I've said it before and I'll say it again.
Digichilli, forget about the bursting, cap the packages on their minimum throughput initially. When you have your network stable, then introduce the bursting to double...

Hi there,

Discovered something strange by chance:

My router is bridged ie, doing PPPoE from desktop and laptop. I have an Afrihost account which I thought I dialed from the desktop but clicked on the DigiChilli accidentally. The desktop connected while the laptop had a connection as well.

I have a spicy account (R300 p/m) which I thought supported only 1 concurrent connection? Could this be possible as its through the same router?

1 concurrent connection means, connecting from one adsl line.

You cant make a 2nd connection from a friends house

come on guys at digichilli. wats goin on with the speeds. seems like i am gettin a maximum of 10Ks per sec. not really worried about browsing atm. i just need my torrent speeds to pick up...

and another thing i noticed from last night is that when i try to download just one torrent i get bad speeds (max 6KBps) but when i download a number of torrents at one time i get an OK speed (30KBps). why is that. is it maybe because of that packet inspection program or wat? cos what if i want a file now, i dont wanna wait ages for it. jus may be an hour or so. so thats another concern of mine.

your feedback would be greatly appreciated

I noticed it as well. Most likely explanation is that they are throttling individual TCP connections to a certain speed. Since you are running lots of connections at the same time, your total speed goes up. More connections are bad, though, as it requires more CPU power to properly manage them, and some home routers may not have the available resources, so if you increase to too many streams, your speed will drop again.

I've seen the same thing with video streaming tonight. If I have enough simultaneous sessions open, I can get up to 30 kB/s total. However, each stream still takes a long time to download.

And 30 kB/s? I've not seen that for the past 2 weeks on my connection on torrents. Consider yourself lucky.

I never thought the day would come where i would say this but i'm actually wishing they had a CAP... I'm hoping and wishing that they introduce a CAP. Maybe just a rolling cap maybe daily rolling or something.

Please give us a CAP, we beg.

Still slow here.

Not to sure why i still hope.

Sounding very negative but sheesh. never getting anything over 10kb and other ppl saying 30kb+ makes me a tad upset.

DC isn't exactly answering questions here...

Ummm, why? I think this issue goes much deeper than leechers :whistling: What I don't understand is why did they just not limit people to their minimum account speed? Surely that would do away with the abusing argument?

It seems like they can't or something is wrong so they are unable to. A daily rolling cap of lets say 2-3Gigs would fix things for now i'm sure.
