Has anyone else noticed that Dave is posting less and less updates, or just posting less in general?

The last two updates he's posted where exactly the same thing, down to the letter.

I'm still waiting for the last Friday 13:15 improvements

Surly there upstream provider is providing internet to more than just DC?

From what I understand, they wholesale bandwidth to large corps. I simply cant believe that everyone who uses them just stands by while they wait for it to be sorted.

It's very sad. I was one of the lucky test users, but even I feel "robbed".

Dave, you guys started off so strong. Support was great, service was good, and when it was bad, we got decent explanations. Almost everyone was happy to help you guys along, be part of the test, and help change uncapped in South Africa.

Unfortunately, this has all fallen to the ground. Not only is the actual connectivity that so many have paid for none existent, but the service provided back seems to be lacking also.

I sincerely hope you guys manage to get everything sorted. I enjoyed it while it lasted, and going back to per gig just sucks. But at least it works.

Good luck...

What ever it is, it has been the same persisting issue since launch. The service has been exactly the same since launch... The was a brief period of improvement a week or so ago but that didn't last.

Well my THEORY but let's just call it that (since I have no genuine insider scoop) is that the issues PRIOR to Sunday were a lack of shaping regulating things......but then on the sameday the shaper kicked in the upstream issue occurred thereby making it so no one felt the benefits of it and service just took a nosedive in a different direction.

Seems like a comedy of errors really.

meh this is sooooooooooooo lame i want int cap and fast . look wat i paid 4 . its a breach of contract meaning that one could get some lawyers involved, we have giving you a chance to fix the problem for at least 3 week now. I believe its time for action.

Lol, you go ahead and get those lawyers then

You could easily but will cost more than the amount you paid for the account and any reasonable costs incurred by DC's lack of service... Your best bet would be to inform the Office of the Consumer Protector or set out your complaints and grounds for breach of contract and send it to DC and hope they refund you ;)

Seen on the DigiChilli site:

With the holiday season upon us and the DigiChilli fever spreading everywhere we
would like to inform you that the DigiChilli offices will be closed
25 December 2009 & 1 January 2010

Don’t despair for we will be back and on fire !!

For every other day during this festive season, ready to heat up your Internet experience.

We would like to wish you a super Spicy Festive Season and a Prosperous New Year

The DigiChilli Team

They have less than 3 days to sort this out. It doesnt seem as if we will get proper access until next year.

Well, in that case I will never see a working Digichilli account :p unless they give us a good deal next month for putting up with this...

That says they will only be closed on the 25th and 1st, not the time in between as well, unless it's an error in the wording.

For our sake lets hope you're right but for the DC team it's more stressful times :)

as TechRat said; they only closing for 2 days, Christmas and new years, I also read it as FROM the 25th TO the 1st instead of ONLY the 25th AND the 1st.

Someone that knows their bits and bytes (I'm lazy):
How much bandwidth would 500 people need if they all maxed out 384k lines?

Plus upstream providers would have stuff like SLA's, etc and wouldn't be down for very long as it would cost them too damn much - Digi/Dave - an update please?

well one thing had improved. torrents. jus a lil bit faster would do the trick and download rates staying constant. yeah that would really help

Would that not be 192Mbps(downlink) of bandwidth for 500X384Kbps users?
64Mbps(Uplink)

Which would make a total of 1XSTM-1 255Mbps link from seacom that is needed and they claim they have how many?

Sorry if i got the term's wrong but to lazy to go look. and i am sure you all understand what i mean

Our network has moved in excess of 6 TB's in 8 days.

Call it 'imperial' TB's and make it 6.5 - 6 500 000 000 little thingies.
divide by 8 days = 812 500 000 little thingies.
divide by 24 hours = 33 854 167
divide by minutes = 564 236
divide by seconds = 9 404

amidoingitright?

In the absence of information - 'stuff' will be created ...

We still have an outstanding upstream issue. We're dropping a large % of international traffic when it hits London.

This is having huge backup and retransmit issues. It is being still being addressed.
