do you think if some people were not downloading 20 gigs a day, the rest of us would have a better connection?

Yep, as I said before, the package should be limited to the max burst speed, ie 256 package to 512.

Imagen the damage someone with a 8meg trial line, paying R300 per month and will download a few gig every hour, while the rest of us who can only download at 384MAX are stuck.

They should have made provision for that. Take WA trail.. 8000 people testing their network. And they give each 10G for FREE. (And free gigs afterwards)

Now THAT is testing... and they (WA) will launch with ZERO issues.

I wonder how many testers did DC had...

Edit: They should have also made sure that 4Meg line people don't download full line speed on R300 package (testing again)

im busy downloading 1 gig of well seeded torrents.. estimated arrival time: 7 weeks..
that makes me a sad panda.

The international link are limited to at least that. Right now it's impossible to get that high a speed. You can get high speeds from local sites, however, but that shouldn't affect people transferring from international sites, as it frees up capacity on the international link.

So I am curious when are business hours up? Reason for asking is because I am still have ****e connections across the board. I have a few torrents with a high amount of seeds and am getting speeds of 1kB/s if I am lucky. I am seriously considering cancelling and just going with SAOL, I know DigiChilli is still growing but I have not seen any improvement so far :(. I thought with my week downtime something would have improved but so far I have not noticed anything, will monitor for the rest of the evening...

Having said that I have just seen 1 torrent come to life, d/l at 90kB/s...

Check your peer list - there's likely a South African IP listed there. I get really good speeds from them. Just rare in my list.

You are correct the peer is from a University ;). But there are a few more from Europe and surprise surprise the U.S.A that are bumping up the speeds :). Maybe the business hours protocol has been "toned" down since business hours are finished?

*edit* Still getting timeouts to News Servers...

Torrents are shaped at the moment, while they sort out network stability.

Local torrents work fine. Local bandwith should also not be limited, as im sure they have a much higher local pipe of bandwith.

I have much hope in the chilli's, having uncapped thus far has been great! My Rapidshare account does now know what hit it.

I cant wait for all services to be tweeked, and strongly belive DigiChilli will be the company to keep an eye on for 2010

With all the internet problems I hope digichilli is dishing out refunds. This is definitely not hot!!

They said people who are not happy, must just email them and they will be refunded.

But many are...

Yes, but they are not responsible. As someone has mentioned, these telkom issues are suspicious at the launch of DC.

The earlier issues were with the upstream providers.

Then the DoS attacks and abuse of the bandwidth has them constantly having to tweak the system.

It's not all the clients affected either.

As are extremely slow torrents :(. This is very frustrating as said before during the trial everything was okay, not great because more tweaking was needed but after they went live something fell off the bus... :(

WA? Lead me to it.

OK so my connection speeds are now getting ridiculous - on a local torrent I am unable to get more than 6kB/s! I was able to run at around 30-40kB/s earlier but apparently at 17:35 something kicked in and my rates got limited :(

Are local torrents now also taboo?

EDIT: As soon as I posted the speeds went back to 30kbps - this is obviously the trick - as soon as you comment on the MyBB forums you get a change: either you lose what were claiming to have or you gain whatever you complained about not having :\
