Hi All,

Long night. There is still an issue with the shaper. Some related to Cisco and some to the QoS on the shaper. So, as it stands we've not implemented it as yet. I'm awaiting feedback from the engineers.

Dave

Thanks for the update.
Wishing you the best in finding a quick solution.

This is quite disappointing. It's really get ridiculous. You should not be having these issues on a production network. It's been two weeks since going "live" and you still don't have control of the network. I would suggest that you refund/credit all paying customers and hold all billing until the network is sorted. You can not be experimenting with a production network. Where's the planning?

Darren promised high and low that the network will be sorted after yesterday's change. Now it's this weekend...Do not make promises you can't keep.

I'm all for what DC is trying to do (affordable uncapped internet), but at R500 DC is not even delivering half the value of the Axxess R899 account.

You probably the only one having issues, because I have done 64GB in 5days and still going strong.

No he's not the only one having issues, Im also having issues. There's plenty of other people having issues. Just because u dont seem to be having any problems, doesnt mean the rest of us people are not.

For the record. My biggest issue is the lack of single threaded HTTP speeds (ie. Browsing, Patch downloads, PSN etc) and I've raised this concern over and over even before DC went "live".

I agree with necr0mancer, if you're not having issues it does not mean the network is working as it should. There are quite a few other users who are having the same problems.

Oh please, a lot of people are having issues. It is a known thing at the moment that it varies from users to users.

I have been having issues on my free December account since DigiChilli went live. I complained about it, and was basically told to shut up from DG. I see as time goes on more people are having problems, I wonder if they will also be told to keep quiet about it on a public forum.

Mr Bragger Shut the F__Kup

Maybe you and a few others are the problem so don't advertise what you are capable of on the download side. As you could be soon throttled back or capped?

Ok, so while DC is waiting for the engineers and all, would be "nice" if someone could look into their support email box / signup inbox and all ;). Or should i just wait until Monday?

yeah,

huge issues here to, and what flashvc said, absolutely true....

I think we deserve a refund because we literally do not have the net. Browsing doesn't work. torrents don't work. http doesn't work. might as well not even have the net.

And yes we are all very much all in favour of the uncapped internet for quite cheap but if we have SAOL offering the line and uncapped for an extra r200... what reason do we have not to switch?!

Kudos to him for managing that. It just means he found something that works.
Capped? Throttled? You do remember that DC said they won't be doing this, right? After all, it is an uncapped service ;)

Well you're missing another term in there: SHAPED.

From their site, and probably in this thread somewhere too:
We need to shape the traffic across the network. This is to assign the correct priorities to traffic. Also to ensure that everyone gets what they pay for. (Still got some freebies chowing more than their fair share of the pipe.) This is NOT shaping in the negative context of the word (i.e. throttling). We will start to manage the quality of experience. Yep, that means deep packet inspection, layer 7 management etc. So all of you who have been bury your 300 torrent connections into HTTP on port 80, well, you will still be able to do that, only we will assign a lower priority to the packet. So, we will not be blocking anything, and when there is capacity, everything can burst. This will DRAMATICALLY IMPROVE ALL HTTP BROWSING AND RESPONSE TIMES FOR ALL. So we have tried unshaped, and it just does not work. I have pasted an e-mail to a user below. (more details) I am expecting that after tomorrow we will see nothing but :D:D:D all over the place. Please let CambodiaDave know of your specific needs so that we can make sure they are taken care of (e.g if you need low quantity but very high responses on game servers etc) More info to follow shortly.

So the term "bandwidth hoggers" is rearing its ugly head on their network ;)

64 gigs in 5 days is impossible at 256kb-512kb speeds so Braai and a few others ARE getting higher speeds than they should (which I suggested was probably the biggest problem before hand) unless they're on the more expensive (R3000+ as even the 1mb CANNOT hit that in 5 days) packages (unlikely).

Uncapped is great and download all you can.......but breaking (and bragging about doing such) the speed limits imposed to ensure we all get our equal share is not very niceypants. (Well I don't suppose you're using a workaround or doing it on purpose or anything but they do NEED to throttle you - and all other 4mb freeforallers - to within the levels you actually paid for)

don't know how ppl are getting 65 GB when i'm struggling at 2kb/s

youtube.com streaming at 40K now.

//eish, it just fell through the floor.

I've just experienced a bit of a nosedive in speeds on certain things...

Web browsing still seems ok to me tho.

I just can't live with the inconsistency anymore.

It's driving me crazy.

Am back on Afrihost until i hear some positive news. REALLY positive...

And not hitting 65GB in 5 days... coz i doubt that on a 512k line.

You kids find a solution and get back to me :P

Thanks for the info Dave. :)

my DC account has stopped working, cannot connect at all

Same. Yesterday I had to simply log onto 10.0.0.2 and just click the test button. It worked again.

Today even reentering the u/n p/w did not help. Just dead.

I remember asking people to stop being insulting. Look back. The people were encouraged to complain, but to drop the insults.

DC needs info. They need to know who has what issues.

They do not need to hear insults at their ability to run an ISP. They have moved the launch date forward a month. I agree that they should have stress tested first. Let's get over it now.

So, they have offered a refund to any clients who are not happy. What more can they do?

Let's give them info as the days go by, since it is merely a matter of time. The problems just need sorting out one at a time.

Kudos to him for managing that. It just means he found something that works.

Yep, DC, once working and bursting to double the paid for speed, will be an unbeatable product.

Wasn't mentioned in the post I quoted (I have been following the thread btw).

Okay so I've done 24GB since I got the service. I hope that doesn't mean I'm a bandwidth hogger too..... (most of this was on local btw, since Intl is the issue). But I'm on a 384 line and I'm getting what I paid for (more or less).
