Fix it.

Give regular feedback on what is happening. In english for everyone to understand.

Make a plan. Give a few refunds. Throttle the 4mb users to 512k even.

See what happens.

Do something different and something different will happen.

Since you are running lots of connections at the same time, your total speed goes up. More connections are bad, though, as it requires more CPU power to properly manage them, and some home routers may not have the available resources, so if you increase to too many streams, your speed will drop again.

I've seen the same thing with video streaming tonight. If I have enough simultaneous sessions open, I can get up to 30 kB/s total. However, each stream still takes a long time to download.

And 30 kB/s? I've not seen that for the past 2 weeks on my connection on torrents. Consider yourself lucky.

ja hey. i think maybe they have to configure their layer 7 management thing properly or somethin. jus a suggestion

1 thing to fix their network would be this:

They should HARD THROTTLE every single connection to 384KB as of right now.

Everyone cannot complain as they will still get their promised 384KB from digichilli. Dave catch a ****ing wake up!

4MB users: 200KB per second
384KB users: 15KB per second

You targeting low speed uncapped yet you screwing over all the guys with the low speed lines. Go figure :mad::mad::mad:

Yes, I got caught up with the uncapped promises. This is a bit disappointing at the moment for the speed I'm getting (this was my xmas present to myself).

Hopefully Dave will make it with our while very soon:whistle:

At least the 3G is still around...

Yeah, I hear you, but at least do something...

What did they do the morning when we we're all getting 30-40kb?

They banned <3% of the users if i remember correctly.

I'm not a fundi on this but surely you have to offer your customers something because right now half are getting good speeds and the other half are getting rubbish.

And i do understand that 'if we don't like the service, ask for a refund'

but we'd all like to see the network, work.

New Subscriber / Connectivity Issues

Hi guys

I am new to Chilli. Had the service for about 5 days and have experienced endless issues as described in the previous posts.

I was only charged R240 for this month, however I would expect this should be refunded or not billed at all since the service is completely unusable. I managed to download 2 gigs so far an thats only due to using rapidshare with Free Download Manager.

Single thread downloads through IE, Mozilla, Chrome are a complete joke. I am not able to stream any type of video/audio and all HTTPS/Secure sites are unusable. I cannot do internet banking, i cannot login to my office mail via the webmail page and I cannot use any online applications/games whatsover. IE Unibet Poker, Aion, Citrix Remote Access, World of Warcraft.

So far I am completely unimpressed by the simple ability to provide decent browsing speeds and access to the above mentioned applications/sites/games.

I could understand if download speeds were a tad slow, but below 1kb/s i can't even download a 1 meg file without falling asleep. I also understand the service is new and we need to be patient, but no ISP has ever had this amount of extreme implications with speed and all of the above upon opening.

I really appreciate the opportunity to have a uncapped service for this sort of pricing but at the moment, i cannot do anything but post simple replies on forums such as this. I have been paying for a Datapro and Webafrica service instead whilst this account has done nothing much for me thus far.

IF the problems are not resolved extremely soon, I will be closing my account and moving to a place such as Axxess, SAOL. I find this whole situation very dissapointing.

IF anyone has anything to assist me with on any of the above issues, please let me know.

Whatever the reason it's really disappointing at the moment, hopefully it'll come right soon.
 
I wish me on my 4mb line could get even 10kb/s instead of the pitiful 1's... :(

Before DC went live all was good then they went live and someone poured cold water over their flaming chilli's causing everything to go cold chilli on us... :(

the reason for the problems is of no concern. The point is, it is not that hard for the average ISP to provide a working service for browsing at the least.

in 3 days i've had no use of the connection for anything useful because of the dreadful speeds. something surely can be done in 1 day to at least give us access to the basic elements of the internet such as browsing all websites. even if streaming isn't so great thats fine, but no ability to even get to HTTPS is sad.

Yeah, SAOL @ R499pm with a 384k line.

Screamer will be offering me a test a/c er, this week is i remember correctly and then i will see how that goes.

If that is also unusable, then SAOL it is.

Or you could Afrihost... prepaid @ R39per GB. Monthly @ R29 per GB with top up options.

Going @ 40kb at the moment :D
 
Since joining DC just over 2 weeks ago, I spent more time trawling mybb than i have in the +- 3 years I have been a member! Like someone said earlier, its becoming an obsession!

In the two weeks I have been on DC, I have had about 8 hours of joy......

This is bad.......very bad........

The only thing really holding me back there is the line transfer. I would prefer to keep my line where it is right now. If it wasn't for that, I would be signing up in an instant.

Moving lines between providers is too much of a hassle, and I happen to like the service at the place it is at the moment.
