Hi dionb,

Do you know where the tower is.

Is it at Telkom exchange or not, I'm just curious.
I don't want to commit myself to data if service is bad.

Regards
Tnx to all others that replied.

The traditional gsm towers (Vodacom & MTN Share it) is at the exchange in Dersley Ext (Opposite Geronimo's & Gym).
I would assume they have used the same premises for the 3g, however, to cover a full gsm cell, they need several 3g towers as the range is shorter.

I know of some grey area around Corundum/Galena and also Albite/Cloverfield.

What roof do you have?? Metal/Harveytile do affect signal.
Traditional metal roofs are mainly from the mining era around here - Between Silica & Orpiment, Shale etc. Epidote on the shop side and a street or 2 below, Dersley ext - last str or 2 on the Eastvale end. Also some in Cloverfield, opposite shops.

Feel free to pm me if you want to try your modem at my place and/or we try mine at yours.. Long shot - modem.

I am just pondering now. Vodacom was off for most of yesterday afternoon here - appr 8hrs. Just noticed my 3g signal is 4 bars. Wondering if they did some upgrading or is it just good weather for the signal - only time or @v3g confirmation will tell.

Just an update.
Vodacom phoned me this afternoon - within 24 hours of sending an e-mail to customer care by the way.

You should e-mail customer care first.
This will assist in generating a case/ref no.
With this they get busy on it.
I have been promised a call from the regional network guys and they will even come here and check.

Now there is a route to go.
Your neighbour must also do it of course.

Confirmed - only the tower at the exchange here - also only 3g one.

I did that,called them.
Very good service,I may say.
They got back to me the same day, tech got involved.
Got 3* sms from tech that problem is sorted out. He also left his Name and Surname on the sms he send me.

Tnx Vodacom for that, excelent service.

Hi All,

I bought another phone, Nokia E51.
It does not disconnect me off the network.
It slows down when the 3G signal weakens.
I then do a "speed test" and I can see I don't get through put.

So I think it is Phone related. When you have good 3G signal then it will be ok!.
As long it does not need to switch to a diff. speed.(Nokia N70)

Regards
