Discovery Bank

I’ve assumed too much. I’m reading more fine print and the caps are ridiculously low. I hate that they make a big fuss of 50% or 75% back on this and that and upon closer inspection it’s limited to such a low amount.
The DMiles earned for Uber could be quite good, but I’m not sure if there’s a cap yet.
Yip, almost impossible to get the 75% back. Here are the two relevant rules for Heathy Food.

Your cash back is based on the cash back percentage you qualify for:
  • As a single member on Vitality, you get cash back on a maximum of R2 000 per month that you spend on HealthyFood items using your Discovery Card.
  • As a family on Vitality, you get cash back on a maximum of R4 000 per month that you spend on HealthyFood items using your Discovery Card. In order to qualify for the maximum family cash back as a Bank client, both the Principal and Spouse need to have a primary Discovery Card.

Yes and there is spend to qualify, the more u spend the more you get back, for me I don't send that much so I'll never get high cash back

Be careful though. Its 50% of the lowest between your points(1600 odd max) and rand spend. The max you could get will be R800.

there's a 25% from Bank that i dont know how it works. If its based on petrol spend then that would be flippen awesome.
The cash back that you get is the % you qualify for (max I think is 15% for feul) of the fuel you purchase at BP or Shell where you use your Discovery credit card to pay. The cash back is limited to the first R1000 of fuel per month. So the max you can get is R150 per month (15% x R1000).

It’s actually quite easy to get about 70% back in healthy food. Get vitality and black suite and try get to gold which isn’t too difficult since I have provident find and property. You just need to get swipe 40k per month on your card. Ie spot or AB.

I guess the most difficult is to get to gold if you don’t have property and retirement. Or diamond where you need 100k in savings.

Currently don’t use bp yet. I use engen for Ebucks. But I do need to make a switch since I can get 50% back in petrol. Plus 20% in miles.

Yes I looked at engen for eBucks but even with the quarterly bonuses, BP is better through Discovery Insure and Bank. Just got R617 from our petrol spend last we looked.

You need to implement some ‘manufactured spend’ - this is a valuable skill.

Ah so the cap is R1000. That’s not nearly as good as I thought it’d be. Geez they make their lives so complicated at Discovery. I’ll bet there’s a team of actuaries trying to out-dork each other.

Spot or AB? I assume Spot refers to Virgin Spot. But AB? Could you elaborate...?

I know it's possible to actually get paid for having insurance. Drive a cheap car so premium is a lot lower than R800. Then drive enough to spend R1600 of fuel and get up to R800 cashback. They haven't capped the cashback at the premium you pay.

So bank rewards stuck again? Anyone else with transactions missing from today?
No mine is fine I did transactions today but annoyed that they haven't credited me for my transactions on the 7dec as well at 4 Jan ,still waiting

All online payments being declined this morning. Anyone else, seems to fail at the OTP stage.

Pretty decent regarding the savings. Used to have a savings account with ABSA and they always dropped the savings rate when the Reserve Bank dropped interest rates.
