Discovery Bank

I see my Dynamic Discounts have been knocked off by 6% although my Vitality Money status has not changed. Anyone has experienced that or knows the reason?

Dynamic Discounts are also impacted by the amount spent (card swipes and online purchases) in the previous month. If you fall into a lower spend band (compared to the previous month) the dynamic discount will be lower.
I find that it takes 2/3 working days after month end for the total spent in previous month to be accurate, plus there might be transactions that have not cleared yet and therefore not yet included in the total spend.

Many thanks for the update.
Even more loops and hops to circumvent. I so wish there was a place we could easily get all this information, and more importantly the way the various calculations are done.

I queried the holdup to my cashback and apparently it’s on the banks side. So I asked to get hold of the internal banking ombudsman and it seems like discovery doesn’t have one. I thought all banks need an internal ombudsman?

I think these tables say it all. When you need three pages of spreadsheets to track hundreds of combinations of earnings rules, then it's just too complicated to be worth it. I have found myself disengaging from the programme entirely because I can't mentally track all of this. Nothing hurts a customer experience quite like having an expectation set up that simply isn't met, time and time again.

It should just do what it says on the box. The loss of the old Discovery card is a sad sad thing.

They still do cross-sell benefits of their other products better than anyone else, so I don't know I'll be leaving, but my primary banking isn't coming here in its current state.

Not being able to see the basis for calculation of the HealthyLiving cashbacks really irks me as I am certain it is incorrect and I am not getting the full cashback due. I have sent this request to Discovery:

Since the website no longer provides the breakdown of the HealthyLiving Cashbacks please ensure that I receive a statement every month with this information. I specifically need:

For each of HealthyFood, HealthyCare, HealthyGear:

The list of transactions counted toward each cashback
The total of qualifying purchases
The percentage applied
The cashback amount

Do any of you share my pain? Please send a similar request and let's see if we can get this sorted! Alternatively, if anyone knows anyone at Discovery that can address this, please pass on their contact details. It is very difficult working through call centres and 3-5 freaking working day response times.

Thanks!

I queried in November last year, and after many exchanges and calls, I concluded there was a deliberate strategy of obfuscation.

You can get sometime like this in excel. This is mine for December. It’s a mission. Only now I got a proper confirmation now that They will fix December. After they fix December I need to do November.

So were there transactions in the Excel dump that they had not taken into account or did you have to provide slips to prove that there were transactions that they hadn't picked up and were not showing in the Excel dump?

Agreed. They are obfuscating that their systems are just not robust enough to do what they commit to doing and they are just paying out minimal amounts and relying on people's trust or laziness not to query the system.

I didn’t query the completeness of the dump. Since I don’t keep the receipts. I just recalculated on the dump to percentage of cash back ie the accuracy of their calculation. And it appears there are problems.

I guess what I can do is get a dump from pick n pay and check for completeness. Maybe I’ll do that later. You can ask too many things from discovery. I’m doing my query on a month on month basis.

Hey guys, if I have the qualifying bank products and my cash back at Sportsman warehouse is say 45%, is there a monthly limit to the my cash back?

So I just realised that Discovery Bank doesn't have a SWIFT code or IBAN Number. What the ****?
