Discovery Bank

Yes, but you have eft from other card which generate interest.

There only 1 card in SA that can be paid off by swiping another card, not going to say what it is, as it gets abused :P
Cheers for that, I was wondering if there was another :-)

Discovery Bank: You can't call us right now due to a Telkom issue. Visit Info & tips on the Discovery Bank app for info or call 0113244000 until further notice.

When your state of the art bank uses telkom lol

FNB is my main rewards bank at the moment. I had an old Discovery cc that was converted into a Discovery Bank cc. I have the gold cc. I am currently sitting on 61/65% for Healthy Food. Would 65% to be the highest that one could attain for a gold card? <just read online, 65% is gold max>

If I purely spend R1000 on HF at WW, would I receive R610 back, or are there other thresholds that are calced on your overall spend to potentially reduce that number?

The cashback percentage shown in the app is what you’ll get back. I’m not sure how they calculated the 61% but I do know that everyone’s cashback has been boosted during the lockdown period. So after lockdown your percentage will change according to your cc spend.

Anybody got an older copy of the HealthyFood double cashback Ts&Cs?
I never received my double cashback in April, and now after two months of querying Discovery says it only applied for Vitality members with their billing date from 20 April onwards! This was never stated anywhere before, but has popped up in the Ts&Cs doc now! And guess what, my billing date was 19 April - how ridiculous from Discovery!!
Also, I joined Bank just around 20 April and I never received any bank cashbacks in May - what a shitshow!

The qualifying spend is limited to R2000 for single members and R4000 for family, so no other thresholds EXCEPT the threshold of Discovery's useless IT team and systems that most the time don't work!

Thank you, I was concerned with spending 2k on my cc purely for HF(no other cc spending) but not getting my current 61%.

Well in theory there are no other/overall spending requirements, like what FNB has. But as per my post above I can't actually confirm that because I haven't actually received my cashbacks from Discovery.

Are you sure. Don’t your overall spend have to be 5 times your healthyfood benefit. Similar to ebucks checkers spend.

Pretty sure. I've read all the documents and definitely haven't seen anything like that mentioned anywhere, unless it's hidden somewhere obscurely

These are the only requirements
Also, when you are new to the bank, you must have at least 1 (full) calender month spend on CC before you qualify

Meet the Discovery Bank rewards qualifying criteria
Your personalised dynamic rewards may change based on your engagement with the Vitality Money
programme. Your boosted Vitality Money cash back at your selected partner is based on these criteria:
 Your Vitality Money status at the last day of the previous calendar month
 Your Discovery Bank account type – Discovery Gold, Platinum or Black Card or Discovery Gold,
Platinum or Black full banking suite
 Your previous calendar month qualifying Discovery Card spend will be used to determine a spend
band. This spend band will include local or international straight and budget purchases made online
or in-store using the qualifying Discovery Card (Discovery Card refers to your qualifying Discovery
Bank credit card). The following transactions do not qualify as monthly qualifying spend: cash
withdrawals, traveller’s cheque purchases, electronic funds transfers, payments made through online
banking, debit orders, budget facility transfers, gambling transactions, and purchase transactions
from the transaction account.
 Your account must be kept in good standing. ‘Good standing’ means that none of your Discovery
Bank accounts and credit facilities are overdrawn, in arrears, in default, or subject to any legal
process with Discovery Bank including keeping your Know Your Client and Anti Money Laundering
information up to date. ‘Legal process’ excludes debt review as defined in the National Credit Act 34
of 2005.
 Your Discovery Bank account must qualify for rewards.

I take it it’s not possible to get to diamond status on bank if you don’t have all the discovery products ? I only have Discovery bank full suite, medical aid and household insurance. The house I stay in is fully paid, but not in my name.

Provided you manage to accumulate 80,000 points (Gold) and have the required amount in savings you can get to Diamond. The number of Discovery products you hold has nothing to do with it.

If you don’t own property you can get property points based on your savings but I don’t know how they calculate that, you’d have to contact Vitality for more info.

Thanks for the info. The amount of products you have does play a marginal role apparently. At the moment I’m on
Debt Management 30k/30K
Savings 30K/30K for 45K + savings
Insurance 10K/25K (only household insurance)
Goals 2K
Total 72K

If I had life insurance and discovery drive I would have received the additional 15K for insurance which would have put me on 87K points

It doesn’t have to be with Discovery, all they want to see is that you have insurance. You should get the full 25,000 points if you have 3 insurance types: medical aid, life and any form of short term insurance like your home contents or car.
