Discovery Bank

Could you add a black suite ? For me that option says coming soon and it’s greyed out.

Yea I did. But it’s under transaction and not under suite. I think suite is for people who don’t have neither credit card or transactional account. Since we have a credit card all we need is a transactional account hence it’s under transaction . IMG_0389.JPG

When I spoke to Discovery bank they said it’s not gonna be a full suite if you add a transactional account, which is a pay as you use account. They promised that the functionality is going to be added in the future.

How much were they gonna charge you a month. Because when I upgraded just now. it says the monthly fee is R440 inclusive of everything including vitality money.

Discovery Bank is pretty opaque

Assumed I had a bank suite but think its only a credit card.

Paying R185 it seems with vitality money. So R440 for full suite i.e. addition of transactional account

Find the benefits for additional R255 confusing.

Check my understanding here: The goals refer to all of your Vitality Rewards goals. (Active, Drive & Money.) There are usually 3 goals a week and in a 4 week month a total of 12 goals. (16 goals in a 5 week month.) This means you have to have all 3 products, Active-Drive&Money to fully fund the iPhone. Makes sense. If you only have 2 of these products then you will only get about 25% discount. Not worth it for me as the Drive-insurance for me is about R600 more pm with less benefits.
I never reach the spend goals. As for drive, never either.

So only health active goals realistic for me.

Will stick to my Samsung

Do you have to have a credit card to receive miles or can you also receive it on a transactional account?

Just updated the banking app. What the iPhone benefit doesn’t tell you is that the benefit also depends on your vitality status. The higher your status the lower the interest discovery charges you. I am suppose to get the phone for free but because my interest rate on my credit card is 13% I have to pay an extra 30 bucks a month

No update for Android

Don't you also have to spend a minimum of R5000 pm on your cc?

I'm using an android and got the update
Sorry yes I see updated now available
My miles are showing the old miles only

I don't spend near the required amount so I won't be able to get the phone

Wonder if we'll be backdated for the miles since we got the cc?

Same here

Only old miles
Spend too little. In fact not sure card is worth it?

I have thought about it, but it is too break even for me to consider it (Break even with lower insurance and eBucks rewards on fuel). I also just got a new iPhone and the spouse has a company iPhone so no need there. When the iPhone 12 comes out I will re-consider (rumors are the iPhone 12 might have no notch and will be USB-C. That would be perfect.)
*One thing you can go test for yourself (I did a test for two months in 2017) is what the actual fuel efficiency of BP fuel is. I found a difference of 8% in fuel efficiency with my car on 93 Unleaded. It wasn't a scientific test, but I did try to keep my driving behavior similar. So Engen's fuel gave me 8% better fuel consumption than BP did. When I saw that, I dropped Discovery Insure and switched everything to FNB.
Try Shell?
