I don't think they do if it's a transaction account. There's no word about that or a minimum amount on there site. Maybe someone knows if they do but I haven't been asked on my Platinum card so far.
I don’t think you need to submit proof. But I read somewhere on the website that there’s a minimum monthly deposit. Wasn’t 90k though, more like 30k...

It's the same with the Lounge visits. It's not Discovery it's Visa. Discovery did choose to apply the Lounge visits on the Black card only while another bank i know has them on the platinum.
Thought they building their own lounge visits like Standard Bank?

Which lounges can one visit?

I gave up after 6 attempts to try open 1 of their savings accounts via the app wanting to transfer a fair sum into their savings account once opened.

1. My middle names wouldn't be accepted when signing up
2. My address details are not allowed as a suburb name in the suburb section, it has to be entered in as a alphabet letter and a numerical number? The region isn't accepted, same issue as above
3. They will only accept a utility bill as proof of an address
4. It Must be signed and dated, even the electronic bank stamp proof meant it was rejected

In the end I stayed where I was banking and actually got 1% more on the interest they offered.

Discovery for me has been a total waste of time and effort
Wife registered and got card before me. Tried to activate and app states no record of her. Yet she has a card but not activated

Anyone signed up for the free IPhone? How are you tracking towards achieving all the goals. I should easily make health and drive, money as well if it was not for the issue where the bank does not send though all transactions to vitality. On average I have had 3- 4 points missing every week since getting the card which makes a difference between reaching the 25 target and not.

Vitality money should be the easiest. Remember Discovery takes the highest earning transaction within the hour period.

I can't recall reading this in any of the limited info available. Assume your statement above should be "Remember Discovery takes the highest earning transaction within the hour period for purchases at the same vendor"?

In any event, my missing transactions are random ones.

What I have found is that Partner Stores (PnP, Woolworths etc), always show up quickly.

Purchases from other vendors are the ones causing problems.

By example, at PnP we would split the purchase between healthy items, non healthy items and prepaid electricity (need to use a different POS for this) and would get points on each transaction even though the transactions are minutes apart.

Do the same at say Spar, by something in shop and visit the Tops next door resulting in two transactions, and points only awarded for one transaction. This makes no sense.

Then there are other vendors where I have made multiple purchases on different days but have not earned any points on these transactions (including hardware stores, bulk retailers etc).

It’s wasn’t on their website. But someone was in this forum mention this rule. It makes sense i guess. It’s to prevent people from paying their electricity bill online R50 at a time.

I’ve been doing that, I get points. Top up my Amazon account with £3 at a time - sometimes like 10x in a row and they all qualify. Sure they’ll figure it out soon and close that loophole. I really hope they change the Vitality Money programme soon though. Discovery Bank customers are going to get a bad reputation for splitting transactions up and being painful. The point is, after all, ‘responsible spending’ and frivolous swiping is hardly responsible.

True but they probably allowing it for now for the stats so they can brag how many transactions their customers are doing and still keeping their financial discipline. It will largely affect the vendors cause I know for pay@ accounts they charge a fixed fee of like R5 plus a percentage.

Yeah I guess. Don’t think large companies like Amazon pay those rates though. I tried splitting my purchase at Woolworths up once but it was too painful and you just hold up the queue. I actually considered getting one of those portable Yoco card machines to swipe my own card. 3,3% transaction fee and the money gets paid back into my account. But their terms state that you can only use it for genuine transactions so it’s not an option.

Haha thanks I’ll look into it. But I’m ok with not achieving my goal for now. I don’t have the iPhone benefit so apart from the play there’s very little reason to bother. Health and Drive goals I totally get and I never fail to achieve them. Money goal is just going to lead to psychological problems though.

1 or 2 years ago I contacted pay@ and asked them a quote for a pay@ number. This was when fnb was dishing out checker vouchers at 40% off as if it was Christmas. Lol.
