The new Discovery Bank products are very confusing. To try and understand the reward program requires hours of research not to mention trying to compare it to my current Discovery Card linked to FNB. I have not yet moved my current legacy Discovery Credit card over to Discovery Bank.

I currently have the Platinum/Top card on the legacy Discovery Credit card linked to FNB. I average about R30-35k monthly transactions on the card. I am also on Diamond Vitality Health status. Would I get more or less rewards by moving to the new Discovery Bank packages? We tend to use the International flights and Hotel savings each year. Please if anyone could put me out of my misery of trying to unravel this mystery.

What questions do you have? Some people get more back from FNB some don't just depends how you shop. If you buy "healthy' food at woolies OR pnp then probably. All you need to do is have enough savings/insurance/a house/retirement and spend enough and you will get good money back on food spend, flights, fuel (all at the right shops) - On ebucks you earn more at general places. Discovery miles doesnt do much at all for now. So basically your cash back is the best feature. So basically if you on a good ebucks level and earn well - stay, if you dont and you shop at discovery's shops then move.

Just got a call from bank rewards, there is a delay in paying fuel cash back any transactions from.the 22nd September onwards, so it will eventually get paid when they fix it.no need to send a query

I think you misunderstood my post. I have a Discovery Credit card based on their legacy solution that was provided using the FNB banking infrastructure. So I am trying to compare the costs and rewards of the legacy vs the new Discovery Bank package. My first impressions are that it is not better and that I will just delay my migration as long as I can. Could someone comment that moved from the old Discovery Credit card to the new Discovery Bank?

@RH360 the biggest draw back for me moving to the new card is the lack of miles multiplyer, I do like the extra boosted cash back(so from 25% at pick n pay I get and extra 8%) I get 6% cash back at Bp which I never got before etc

Is there a document somewhere that indicates exactly how you attain the Vitality Money status (Blue to Diamond)? All I see is "Dynamic scoring using artificial intelligence (AI) " which sounds like an excuse to change the rules to keep reward expenditure in check.

Not sure about the documents,as moving up a status is tailored personally ,as it depends what products you have with discovery and what you have outside of discovery (debt retirement etc) and savings in your bank, so you may automatically go from.blue to silver like I did and then I just added more to my saving account and doing the monthly goals which is also differs from person to person

So it would seem that there is absolutely no way of knowing what your reward level will be. These reward schemes are getting ridiculous with the level of intentional obfuscation to prevent the client from making an informed decision.

How do you pay vodacom with a card?
Was browsing around the Vodacom website to update my debit order details just now, and I see you can now pay your account by credit card online. You can even specify the amount ie break it up into smaller amounts to get more money points.

Was looking for that feature a week ago! Well spotted! Guess who's cancelling his debit order :)

Just paid mine, it gave an error the first time but worked the second time.
I pay my Fiber account in numerous R50 online transactions. Got a phonecall from the ISP yesterday asking if I as having issues with the online payments because they notices I pay R50 at a time (Fiber account is R999 a month) :) I explained about the weekly Discovery Bank targets and they just laughed and told me to go ahead with my modus operandi as long as it makes sense to me :) Also pay another retailer online the same way (R50 at a time) :) Have never missed a weekly bank reward since opening my account in August because of this approach :)

Thanks for that idea ,I tried with my fiber company but they don't accept credit card payments.

Any other ideas on how to pay different invoices?

Wonder if they're going to close that 'loophole'. It just smacks of a broken rewards system.

Would also just like to mention that the confusion on this forum reflects really badly on Discovery. It's really unbelievable how little information there is about how any of their new services and products work. Have to suspect the obfuscation is 'good' for them as some clients sign up and pay for rewards that they might never obtain. But surely it loses them clients as well?

On that note, just reading what some of you are having to do to attain certain statuses and maintain certain thresholds for rewards etc. is making me nauseous. I think the rewards system has become too bloated, complicated, and tedious.

I did two transactions at midday and my money goal never updated with the two points? Any one else having this issue? Normally it adds to my transaction goal immediately

Me too. Did a transaction this morning and no points yet. There have been delays before but it’s never taken never this long to reflect. I should have gotten 300 points for exercise but that hasn’t updated either. And my drive goal isn’t updating. So loads of bugs atm it seems.
