Discovery Bank

How did you get a date? Did you call them?
Yes, I called the call center. About a day later they phoned me back with the date. The person that answered the phone couldn't tell me and had to escalate my query to a banker.

I have the platinum and I had to transfer R1000 I to the vitality savings acc to activate weekly money rewards (the 20 transactions to get to play on the board? My goal streak is also zero but I did the retirement assessment and then I need to deposit R3500 into a savings account (the R1000 I put into the vitality savings acc count's towards the R3500).so will get the points and goal streak moved up next month #confused

Well at least you get lounge visits with the black card ...PS and you may have read you don't get anymore miles until ...
Hi,

I've just got off the phone with Disco Bank + Vitality Money, and no one has a benefit guide or how to play the game. Seems rather dodge? I'm only doing this to play the game and see the rewards. But seems odd how they can't tell me. Does anyone here have a link on how the rewards program work? I chose the cheapest Gold card to test with. Am feeling happy i didn't take the one they offered me.

I love this thread everybody eagerly trying to move and for what? I have seen little to no reason why to move. Why not wait a few months till everything is up and running properly and not be the guinea pig

The only pull they potentially have is rewards at the moment and that is CLEAR AS MUD!

I feel like everyone who signed up for early access knew they were going to be a guinea pig. And some of us already have a discovery credit card and just want to be moved over to the new card, not necessarily to make discovery our primary bank.

I just spoke to a discovery consultant. He said you will still get your miles when you join their bank. So you might get the miles later next month.

Meaning they haven't done away with the miles? Or they'll transfer your miles that you already had?

Meaning they haven’t done away with the miles. He said you will still earn the miles currently. Don’t know how true that is.

Well I can tell you that miles were usually paid out around the 10th of each month. Its now the 22nd and no miles paid out in July... for me at least.

But did you join during the miles cycle. Maybe on the next cycle you might get it

I was told via email and over the phone that if you have the new disc cc you can use your existing miles but I won't be getting anymore and that I must pay to activate the benefit

If you talking about the game where on a Wednesday you get to choose a tile ranging from 25 to 75/100 points?works the same when you achieve your active health and driving goal?

I think the person means the reward game as a whole not this in particular

Any idea on where to pay to activate the benefit? Or is thisfor at a later stage when whatever is replacing miles comes in?

Well a bit more than that...
I'm diamond status, and have been for ages. I did quite well out of my disco card years ago with the cashback from PnP + Stuttafords, and i think IStore too? As limits tightened, i found better value with FNB/Ebucks.
While i am content with my "returns" from ebucks (Yes they have diminished over the years too), i still do healthyfood through PnP @ 25% back... and what tickles my fancy with disco bank is the possibility of 75% back on healthy foods. And what else they may offer. \I also understand that one has to probably jump through loop holes to save money here / transact X times there etc. And that it can take a month or 3 to get things in order. So.. by playing the game, i'm keen to see what it would take to get to max-tier and what it would mean if i either moved part of my banking across.

The tiles thing doesnt do a heck of a lot for me. I just use those points for ww / clicks vouchers.

The driving thing - when they did their "open period" didn't work for me at all. Discovered you have to not only every stop street, but every yield as well as yield into a circle, which was a pain in the A, and keeping the points was impossible as i commute 6kms from home to office. So if i make a mistake, it takes forever to get back to 100ks (think that is the target?).

I just saw I could activate and pay the yearly normal R435 via their website, normally it just debits me every may but this year it didn't,and now that I was told miles are not longer gonna be received if you have the new discovery cc .

A consultant from discovery money emailed me the cc spend and what money status to be on for you to get the max % back you need a 1+ account. I don't spend that much so I'll never get those % cash back,I'll be lucky for an extra 5%.

The insurance cash back works well for me and I allways get cash back and easy for me to reach 100km event free.

Still very messed up.

I got miles this month but as mentioned cant use them ( also they where just miles no multiplier )

No info on goals apart from the savings

No certainty on cash back, is there any retail cash back? On woolies do i have to use my woolies card or discovery card?

Sofar very disappointing, il give it a month or two but as it stands now not worth it at all!

I finally got my mail today. Unfortunately the app keeps crashing on Iphone every time I reach the "take a selfie" stage. I'll give it another go later today, other wise I'd have to give them a call.

Does anyone know if the dynamic discounts show your total savings including your Discovery Healthy Vitality discounts, Discovery drive discounts and the discovery bank discounts or is it only Discovery Bank discounts?
IMG_4696.PNGI would assume its your total discount access all your products?

Experience
Like everyone else in this thread. The move to Discovery Bank has been very underwhelming. The fact that Only Black accounts get Airport lounge access, 100% off Premier gym memberships and 35% extra off flights on top of the vitality discount prove there is no real benefit here. The extra amount on Vitality Healthyfoods, healthy care and healthy gear are nice but are still capped anyways and it only increases on your store choice(IE if you got 25% off at Woolworths and only 10% at PNP, then your Woolies cashback will go up with Discovery Bank but PNP will remain 10%?!)

Gold Status to Diamond
It looks like moving from Gold to Diamond is not based on the years you have been with Discovery Bank but rather the amount you have saved with them in particular:

As you can see I need to save R44,000 with Discovery bank to move to Diamond despite already having enough money saved to have got the full point allocation for savings.

No Discovery Miles?!
This part blows my mind. Upgrading to Discovery Bank will lose me money because it sounds like I will not be getting my miles or my 10X multiplier. They are actually charging me more and I am losing money. If I knew this beforehand I would have not "upgraded" to Discovery bank.

Dynamic Rate
Here are the rates I am getting with a Platinum account with Gold status:

In all, don't get frustrated for not having an account yet if you are patiently waiting, You might just be saving more by not moving after all.
