Discovery Vitality [2017]

Hi Guys. If anyone is interested in a Garmin HR monitor let me know I have one extra. It will work with your Samsung or ANT+ phones.

How does Park Run work if you take really long or decide halfway if you want to bugger off and not finish? Do you still get the 300 points?

At the end of the park run you have to scan in with a barcode. To get the barcode you need to register on the park run website and link it with vitality. No scan = no points.

Do Clicks and Dischem have a similar number of products available through vitality cashback? Any idea which one is better?

Dischem is better, in my opinion - many more products are classed as "HealthyCare" than at Clicks.

I also think Dischem is better, you can download their catalogues to compare.

Has anyone used the flight booster? I'm confused, it says single and return flights can be boosted, but only one flight can be booked at a time and that you can boost your second flight the day after your first flight? So I'm traveling to jhb in September and return two weeks later. So would I only be able to boost the one flight to jhb and not the return leg?

Depends on how you book it. If you booked it as a single booking, it will show up as a single booking on the discovery website. If you make it 2 seperate bookings, then you can boost the 1st, then once you finished the flight, you can then boost the second booking. Basically, your first booking has to finish before boosting the 2nd booking. Its smarter to do both flights (leaving and return) in a single booking.

Keep in mind, you can only do 2 fligth bookings a year, and also only Kulula flights qualify for boosting, BA is excluded.

Thanks for your reply Tinuva, I haven't booked it as yet as I wasn't sure if I can boost a return flight under one booking, but what I understand is I can.

What is the new health assessment like? The old one was the stairs and doing pushups/sit-ups is there a write up on what the new one is somewhere? Tried to search the thread but didnt seem to find anything.

.
Its very easy.
1. A lot of flexibility tests like
- Squat against the wall
- Squat down from step on one leg
- lie down and in fetus position then open arm up to other side
- hands behind back
- lie down on back then lift 1 leg at a time to 90 degrees
2. Step on treadmill to let your heart rate go up, then they check what it is after like 2 minutes or so. Aparently you want this around 90-100 bpm, mine was at 120 or something I still got full points.

Then they also check your blood pressure and stuff and some questions.

Its still very easy to score 5/5. Both me and the wife passed flying colours and we not runners, only go to gym to do strength exercises.

For level 6-7 if you qualify, there are fewer places you can go to, they put an oxygen mask on your face and push your heart rate all the way to 100% of your age related max. At least that is what they told me when I asked about it.

Was hoping for a meal discount from M&B (sure I read that before) and not just a lame coffee :(

I haven't used Vitality in ages, so can somebody confirm my understanding of the following (Planet Fitness): https://www.discovery.co.za/portal/individual/vit-partner-planet-fitness

I'm already a Planet Fitness member, so apart from the extra Vitality costs on my medical aid premium there should be no extra charges right?
And all I need to do to qualify for the reduced Planet Fitness fee is visit it at least 3 times per month?
When does the reduced costs kick in, once you've visited at least 36 times in a rolling 12 month period or is it pro rata?

Vitality weight loss rewards engaged. My overindulgence and lack of running pays off now... ;-) Now have 12wks to drop from 93.4 to 88.5 for 1000pts & up to 35% on healthy food for 3mths. OR if i drop to 86kg, i get 2500pts and up to 50% on healthy food for 3mths.

Also get a few extra pts for doing manual scale weigh-ins over the 12wks too... so sometimes being a little podgy pays off ;-)

Sucks.. just after I've shed all my kilos and reached my goal wieght they go and do this.

Grrrrr.......
