Discovery Vitality [2017]

Typically you need 15-20k from fitness points which has pretty much stayed the same. The changes just made it a lot harder to get points in a short period hence me saying you need to get it over the full year.

Exceptions are nutritionist, fitness checks etc which u pay for. So while u could easily just do a few races and gym for year, you now would have to do these to jump in points as events no longer could not as much with exception: Triathlon(considering doing it)

I am looking at starting Half Ironman training (aiming first HIM Jan 2018). If you start that journey, start up a thread and maybe we can get some support and info sharing going. Needing to buy a bike though, so that's holding me back for now.

Im sitting at 27600, did my vitality health check at clicks today plus age assessment and 2x gym visits:-)

I have a question here on the gym membership benefit.

I signed up in 2005 for it and have been on it continuously since then so I'm currently not paying anything for using a single nominated club. I want to change to classic so I can go to Alice Lane and Melrose Arch but the prices listed are different between the various classic clubs. Does this mean if you sign up at Melrose Arch you can't go to the more expensive ones, as it is cheaper?

FYI: 5000-9999 steps has been reset for year too, so you should get 50 pts for these till you hit your cap(then it just counts for weekly)

You got 5k points.

But yeah, it was kind of useless. Not going to go for 1000 points - didn't really listen to the advice.

I think the dental check-up will be a better use of time/points.

Exactly.. I do like the dentist, optometrist visits giving 1k points. These are two you -should- do annual check ups with but most people go on 3-5 yrs unless something wrong.

Cool.. likely in Q2 2017 as I am hitting gym presently to get sufficiently fit again.

The 1000 points for an eye check are only for those of us who are 60 plus. On the other hand, for those 40 plus there are 2500 points for the glaucoma check.

On my non-gym days I'm doing a small routine at home. Missed the 70% of max HR category by 1 bpm last night. :(

Wish the polar beats app could display the session average. Grrr.

Yeah it's flippin' irritating, so I try to average 75% of max HR and am constantly guesstimating that I have a decent buffer above 70%!

I am using an M600. Did a 1hr 13min workout on the treadmill yesterday at Avg heart rate of 137...check today and they awarded me 100 points for 10k steps?? Can anyone hrlp

If your average heart rate was below 90% of age related max but above 70% you would only get 100 points (300 points for going above 90%). But 10000 steps is also 100 points. They only take one, i.e. you wouldn't get 100 for 10000 steps and another 100 for a 70-90% of max heart rate workout, so it is possible that if your workout was more than 10000 steps they used that instead of the workout.

Not 90%.. 80%

Not 90%.. 80%

Yip, just realised. Checked the Vitality page.

It's actually now:
60-69% of your max for 30 mins for 100 points (capped at 1000).
70% - 79% for 30-59mins for 200 points, 60+ mins for 300.
> 80% for 30 mins for 300.

So you'd have to be over 25 to get 300 points for 60+ mins at 137 heart rate avg.

I am really battling to reach my target HR because I am on beta blockers (chronic). Does anyone know if there is a way that I can get Discovery to lower my target HR? Keeping my HR above 150 for 30 minutes is really not all that doable.

Keep it above 70% for 60 minutes which I am currently forced to do since reaching 80% is starting to get impracticable.

Guys I wanna do the new fitness assessment at a biokineticists. Do you know where I can go to do the new fitness assessment this weekend. Most of the biokineticists I spoke to said I should make an appointment in two weeks time because they haven't been updated by discovery as of yet.
