Discovery Vitality [2017]

Does anyone know if the shoe booster has a list of shoes they allow?
Otherwise is it any shoe that has the healthy gear logo, allowing cashback?

It's any shoes that have the discovery logo on them

Edit: I could be wrong - could be only for running shoes

Yup, not very clear - the call centre says any shoe in the "running section"...

Have you not done a parkrun recently? If not, do one under 25 mins

Hmmm... That might be my ticket, although I'm not a runner and really just gym/super circuit fit. I normally get to lev 5 on the normal tests so am keen to try these out.

Give it a bash and see how you do. It's free and the only easy way for you to qualify for the assessment. 25 mins should be obtainable if you're fairly fit

Please could someone explain clearly what the benefit of belonging to Team Vitality is. I understand about discounts etc but what happens with meeting up, training, etc. I stay in Cape Town so I know that you can't get a running license through Discovery. How does that work and can you belong to another club? Other than the discounts on gear and the "race Pack" and shoe booster...because that part I understand...
Is there a group that meets up, does training in the Cape Town area?

I have a Galaxy S7, it has a built in heart rate monitor, any way to use this with regards to getting vitality points?

All the heart rate monitors that Discovery support are expensive considering i would only be getting one to meet my goals.

If it works with S-Health, and you start a workout with S-Health, maaaaaaaybe. Perhaps you can test it for us and let us know. Ofcoarse make sure that S-Health is linked in the Discovery app.

If you mean the one on the back of the phone when you put your finger by the camera, then definitely not. That wont give you continuous heart rate data. You need one of the devices, like a Samsung gear s2 watch, Tom Tom watch, polar, etc.

Alternatively, you could buy a chest strap HR monitor (which should be under R1000, look on takealot) and link it to the polar beat app on your phone. That's what I did before getting a Gear S2 watch

Ag voetsek man!

Got a mail to say that fitbug as changing their platform next month and as such vitality wont be able to sync with them anymore. Bye bye my step points which was a nice filler when work took over my gym spots. :(

So could I get any heart rate monitor and just sync it to the Polar Beat app? Would this work even if the device I get isn't directly supported by Discovery?

As long as the heart rate strap can connect to your phone via bluetooth, and provides constant heart rate data (I'm assuming all chest straps do), then you can use it with the Polar Beat app, which is supported by Discovery. The workout data will be pushed to Vitality via the Polar app

Something like this will work - my mom has it

So then could I not sync the data from a Xiaomi Mi Band Pulse to the Polar Beat app?

Sorry for all the questions, just trying to figure out what my options are.

Get S Health. It's a free app.

I believe someone has tried it a couple months ago. It doesn't provide constant HR monitoring, which is required. A HR chest strap does

+ANT is also on your phone so your heart rate strap doesn't have to be a bluetooth one. The link them to your S-Health app which will sync to discovery app.
