Discovery Vitality [2017]

I went to a sit down Mugg and Bean and they asked for a wicode instead of scanning the slip and it worked.

Has anyone figured out how to optimize new cash back and miles rules?

So far,
Cash back:
@home; Cape union; Exclusive books; Frasers; Nandos; sunglass hut; uber
Maximum can spend at each store: R10k
Maximum Qualifying Spend: maximum of 20% of total discovery card spend can be considered per partner.
R10 000 rule: Maximum Total Qualifying Spend

Miles:
you get 1 mile for every R15 you spend. so this is effectively R6.67 per R1000 of spend or 0.67%.
You can earn a maximum of R500 worth of miles per month.

If you spend at a discovery mile partner store, you can multiply the number of miles you earn but this is subject to a 20% partners cap

Gave up on discoverycard a while ago.

Having said that. Also take into account the proposed rule changes coming based on average spend. Think this links into Discovery becoming a fully fledged bank? That may be worth a look see since they came from the FNB flock once upon a time

Been sick, holiday and working.. so missed the entire of last month.this month i am going for it again. Target dropped from 900 to 750.. nice.

eBucks whips Miles.
Look into it (even on this forum)

Mine is stuck on 600 for the last 4 to 6 weeks despite making target every week. Watch it go up now that I commented on it yet again :p

I have a spot open for a team member. :)

edit: and gone :)

Perhaps if you have a lot of banking products. But all I have is a standard cheque account and credit card, and I use the banking app. I can't see any way to move to a higher tier. Don't want a savings product with low interest (rather save in a money market account), don't want to invest in shares with FNB (EasyEquities rather), don't need asset finance or a loan, have an unbeatable R20pm cellphone contract.

Whereas with Discovery Card, I'm Diamond without needing to take on extra banking products. So that gets me 20% off at various retailers (though that number is shrinking by the day....). Also get standard Discovery Miles for all regular shopping, and a 10x miles booster at a fair number of retailers.

On normal credit card spending, on level 2 of ebucks, I'd earn only 0.5%, whereas Discovery is 0.67%, or 6.67% at the various miles booster partners. I can't see how ebucks whips Discovery in my case.

Has anyone had any issues with the cashback when it comes to the ShoeBooster?

I took up the offer in mid March and then received cashback, but it was the 'normal' cashback you receive for buying at either Sportsman's Warehouse or Totalsport. And I only received this after sending an email after nothing was paid into my account.

April has come and gone and I haven't received any cashback for the actual ShoeBooster even though I have reached by Reward goals every week since the start of this year.

I've had to send another email and still waiting for feedback.

This was the response I got after querying basically the same thing:

"Your Shoe Booster benefit was activated in February 2017. Meaning that we started looking at your Vitality Active Rewards goal from March 2017. Your Shoe Booster cash backs will start paying out from April 2017 depending on how you achieve your goals in March 2017."

I did get the correct cashback in April, but with Discovery it seems you always have to double-check everything.

Thanks for the feedback. Guess April was the first full month so will see what they have to say when they reply to my query.
