Discovery Vitality [2017]

Seems to have been around since 2014 and is by invitation only. It seems the simplest way to be invited is to be on the Executive health plan or upgrade your life or invest policy to Purple. Not sure what the extra benefits are on Purple.

I would assume as well that Purple members will be first to get onto their new banking offering which is code-named Discovery Purple as well.

Here is some more info and it lists the criteria for the Life and Invest products:

A couple of my Garmin workouts were not recorded by Discovery last week. The workouts were on Mon 18 & Tues 19 December. One was just 10,000 steps, and the other was a HR workout. I waited 2 days to see if they would reflect (they usually reflect immediately) and when they didn't, I emailed vitality on Thurs 21 Dec with screenshots of the workouts. I have not heard back yet (I so hate this time of year with all the damn public holidays!), meaning that I missed my weekly goal for Dec 16-22, breaking my streak and more importantly, costing me in terms of my flight booster and shoe booster. Does anyone know if Vitality can retroactively mark a weekly goal as achieved?

Yes they do, happened to me about 3 weeks ago

@ros_b, you can't email them anymore. Check if you got an auto-reply as it probably says that mailbox is not manned any longer. You have to log a query via the website...

Thanks SD. I emailed two addresses; one came back with an autoreply that the mailbox is no longer manned, but I thought I got an autoreply from the other with a reference number. I deleted the emails from my local mail client, but searching on my GMail, I can't find any record of either email, which is weird, since I definitely recall getting them - I must have deleted them on my cellphone before I downloaded them on my PC.

Anyway - I've just logged a query on the website. They only allow 500 characters - hardly enough to properly explain an issue, but so be it.

Np ros, I had the same problem, mailed them and glanced the email and didn't realise till 2 weeks later that no further feedback was going to be forthcoming! Enjoy the actual reply to your logged query, you have a 50% chance of them providing any joy because they don't read good!

This is new, isnt it?

Anyone looked at it yet?

I'm seeing the following that looks like Discovery is trying to boost revenue:
You pay an additional premium, over and above the standard Vitality premium.
2018 Premiums
Member R399
Member + 1 R459
Member + 2 R499

Doesn't look new.
Does look like horse crap. Kinda like having a Private Clients bank account, except you don't get nearly the same benefit. Pfft at you get "invited" and they try to make it sound very exclusive. They can go stick their purple product...

I actually received a reply to my email this morning, 8 days after sending it. It was clearly a response to my original email, and not to my query on the website, since they quoted my original email in full. Maybe they got my website query and then went looking for my original query via email? Or is that giving them too much credit?

Anyway, I sent a reply to their reply, to the two email addresses that I'd originally used: [email protected] and [email protected]. I'm not clear which address worked, since the reply came from a "noreply" address. But when I sent my follow-up reply, I got three automatic messages: one from each address saying that the mailbox was no longer monitored, and a third from a postmaster address, saying that the mailbox of [email protected] is full.

Anyway, at least there's been some activity on the issue... I can see a long journey ahead trying to get my weekly goal validated and my cashback credited in full.

Quite looking forward to the points reset, quite enjoy the race to see how quickly I can retain gold (diamond) status.

Hamster on a wheel be thy name...

On another note, anyone here using the Polar A360 or A370 Activity Tracker? How do you find it?

Same...

When the points rest, does the Active rewards go back to like 50 points (or thereabouts, can't remember what it started at?)

Because this 900 points a week is a bit extreme of I don't do a parkrun.

That’s my problem currently. I don’t want to do cardio 3x a week. So we walk the parkrun, 1 x cardio, 2 x gym (technically 3), and one day 10k steps

Vitality still can't sort out my TomTom, they tell me to delete my TomTom profile (I did) then delink it on the DV website (only options to link it) I tried but keeps giving an error 404 showing no users found

I did my Vitality Health Checks on 18 December 2018, does this mean I can only get points for my next Health Check after 18 December 2019?

my understanding is that you can get 'tested' once per calendar year, in your case you be 'tested' on on 01JAN2018 and still be within the rules.

Yeah, the lady at the clinic said the same, anytime after the 1st Jan 2018 you can do you vitality health check for the points.

Vitality seems to be messing up quite a bit lately. This is the 2nd consecutive month that I don't get my healthy food cash back (Pick n pay)
