Discovery Vitality [2018]

Yes you can get 50% of tour points back in miles however I must caution you its quite unlikely you will get 50% back. To get 50% back you need to be diamond. Hardly claim from your discovery medical aid depending on your plan. And spend an avg of 25k per month. Points are allocated yearly around Feb.

Hmm.
Ok so I am on Diamond (and will be again next year), check.
We do claim from medical aid, but its mostly _only_ from the savings for day to day stuff, like doctor visit, fitness day (for points), and gynecologist visits. Savings currently is far more than those claims.

Where can I find more info on the rules that depicts this up to 50% conversion?
Edit: Ok found it here: https://www.discovery.co.za/assets/template-resources/credit-card/points-to-miles-benefit-guide.pdf https://www.discovery.co.za/assets/template-resources/credit-card/tables-inhouse.pdf - let me do some reading...

You better check on that the medical saving part. I'm on a smart plan. If I claim more than 100 rand excluding certain claims like dentist check ups and health assessment I will not be regarded as a low claimer and lose some of the earn rate.

Its on the credit card tab on discovery. Click get more out with discovery miles at the bottom.

Discovery can give you good benefits just like Ebucks. Its just that most of the benefits comes in free stuff or when you retirements unlike Ebucks where you essentially get cash back.

Hmmm. https://www.discovery.co.za/email_za/mailers/pdfs/general/tables_dhms_points_to_miles.pdf

Ok so its more likely that a lot of spend has to be moved over to this card. With what I had in mind, it would be closer to 10-20% conversion for me, which is a lot less. For 50% you literally need 0% claims (excluding their exclusions) and spend more than R25k on the card on average.

So basically not worth the effort for me, still mostly invested into ebucks. I will for now just take the healthy food back benefit at PnP.

Is anyone else noticing that the Kauai reward QR vouchers in the Discovery App becomes grayed out and the voucher Id/reference is gone?
For example I have a voucher for Kauai that expires today. My thinking being that I can still redeem it today...however...the voucher for today is grayed out?
The one on the left expires today, but the QR code is grayed out and there is no Wicode vs the one on the right that is bold black and there is a Wicode..

Yes it's happening a lot according to ppl on their Facebook page. I claim the reward the night before ie Tuesday evenings and then screen shot it or write done the code number and that works for me

hmmm, it sure is a pain to call Discovery and go through the motions...they really need to clarify why this happens.

They still can't fix their goal streak rewards with discovery insure drive. Been over 4 weeks

That also happened to me. That's why I love my vitality purple consultant. Just a WhatsApp and everything sorted out.

I sent them an email this morning and they phoned me this afternoon, apologised and said they are working on fixing the problem on the app.

They did send me two codes to cover the two I lost so less annoyed.

Is that for vitality health or drive insurance?

Those on Vitality - to qualify for run/cycle rewards do I need an approved GPS + HR capable watch or can I create my own combo, like adding a HR band to an existing (non- approved GPS watch or phone (Strava)).

My Amazfit Pace is WAY cheaper than any of the comparable Vitality approved devices (and I've already got it! :()

Basically, to get the full benefits of Vitality, would I have to buy another watch??

You'd need an approved device (Garmin, TomTom, Firbit, etc) for heart rate/GPS related points. There is a device booster benefit which gets you 75% back on the device https://www.discovery.co.za/vitality/fitness-booster-device

Unless that watch can sync the data to something like Samsung Health on android or the health app on an iphone, it will not work with Vitality.

Short answer, yes. You could try linking your watch to a smartphone app from an approved Vitality partner.

I use the following setup:
Scosche HR monitor -> connected via BT -> Polar Beat app.

Thanks- even @ 75% off those things are expensive and a duplication of what I already have :(

The only thing Googling could suggest was:

Sync Amazfit to MiFit App. In Mifit app sync to googlefit. Use healthsync app to sync googlefit data to shealth => worth a try before I buy anything. Sounds like a mission tho :erm:

You can try it - does sound like a mission. I used ebucks to buy a Garmin watch, and prefer the shoe booster every year to the device booster

Ahh, so I could link 3rd party monitors to other 3rd part apps, then link that to Vitality.

Worth a shot ;)

Device for yr 1 if my workaround fails.

Shoes / cycle stuff thereafter, I'm sure :D
