Discovery Vitality [2018]

Hi everyone,
Can anyone share info or point me to an existing post that explains how to prepare for a Health Check to gain maximum points? Can't seem to find anything by searching.
E.g. will exercising beforehand affect my results?
Thanks!

My humble opinion this late into the year is that unless you need the points to get to whatever vitality status you need, rather wait until next Jan to do it , so that it falls into the new year. Exercising for the healthcheck will not change anything massively (since it looks at your cholestrol, BMI, HIV, Smoker, Glucose). So perhaps eating habits could possibly lower cholestrol level and BMI over a few months. Some things you won't be able to change e.g. if you are HIV positive.

Thanks for the response! I hadn't thought about waiting til Jan, might do that. I meant if exercising the morning of the check will have an impact. I know that the glucose result is better if you don't eat for a few hours before.

Xiaomi Mi5

Now that you mention it, with the previous open vitality drive I was using a Sony Xperia Z1 and that worked...

But I added the insure drive app to the protected apps so dont think its that. It actually does record the trip, can even see the whole map with my route, just that its goes missing after uploading.

I had the same problem with xiaomi. Go to settings >> battery >> apps >> allow this app to run in the background.

Does anyone know how the insure rewards actually work. It seems to intimate that you get a play for every 100km of consecutive 5 star drives. So if drove 300km in one 7 day period , and all 5 star , does it mean 3 plays or just one?

#confused. Don't know also if different rules apply during this vitalityopen period. Thinking the insurance option for my next car could be interesting.

How many points do you have now? Since Discovery pays for the Health Check you might as well do it this year and then again in January next year. When last did you check the health indicators that they test for?

Book a morning test and don't eat anything after 10pm the previous night. IMO watching your diet a few weeks leading up to the test can help. I ate a lot of plain oatmeal leading up to my test and it brought my cholesterol down to within their acceptable range. I do however also exercise a moderate amount. I don't know about exercising that morning before the test, is there something specifically that you are concerned about 'failing' in terms of the test?

You only get 1 play per week.

On that topic, if you're actually interested in finding out your level of health (I was, had never done any of those tests before) - go as you are. You will get a better idea then of what to do to get yourself healthy.

If you already know and just want the points then that's another story.

My drive goal has not updated since 23 September.

Anyone else having the same issue? I've sent a query to Discovery.

Sometimes mine gets stuck for a few days but since the 23rd that's a bit excessive

Does anyone know how to check average heart rate before ending an activity with Apple watch 2 , very frustrating to miss a zone by a beat or two at end of workout. Maybe a 3rd part app needed ?

I also wish the Samsung watches gave an average HR during workouts, rather than a live HR.
It does make me push harder just to make sure though!

Must admit, biggest plus for me from going from a Fitbit to a Garmin, the average heart rate for current exercise really helps.

Can also see the average heart rate on my polar m400 with bluetooth belt. So never really an issue for me. Even better, set it to show the % instead of the number.
