I used a Fitbit HR for about a year and a half before getting my Forerunner, they are cheap but I had issues with reliability (3 replacements in 18 months) -they might have resolved that but worthy checking. Very happy with my Garmin though...
Cape Union Mart told me the Garmins have some sort of trade in value when you're wanting to upgrade. Not sure to what extent and how factual that info is, use it don't use it :)

I think that guy was blowing smoke up your ass, if the device breaks or gets damaged in a way that is not covered by warrenty they will replace it at a discounted cost.

If it breaks inside wareenty you can arrange to upgrade to the newer version at a cost, normally the difference between the current retail values if what u send in and what u want.

But no, you can't go after a year, I am bored spot me a lekker discount on an upgrade.

I'm not sure if I need to make a new thread for this or if I can just ask here, but: how long does it take for Vitality and medical aid to show on your dashboard? I joined discovery medical aid and vitality through my company. So I just filled in the forms they gave me and I was told my cover would be active as of 1st of Feb (forms and stuff were done last year November and the company received my membership number on 17 Jan.) But I still don't see anything on my dashboard, meaning I can't use my vitality.

The HR person is telling me to wait a bit for them to activate it. Is this normal?

Im not 100% sure in your situation.
But what I have learnt from my dealings with Discovery is that if something isnt showing when you expect it to, rather phone them and ask instead of waiting because they always have some expiry point, etc that might bite you in the ass.

Anyone know if Discovery have a date to kill off the remaining (linked before Jan 2019) TomTom users?

Worst case scenario, are there any mechanisms to get my workout data from TomTom -> Vitality via an intermediary?

Best to log the issue with them. Had a similar issue last year which they eventually resolved after a lot of waiting and phone calls.

They should have a register for you to sign in. They capture the info when their systems are back up. Always a good idea to check on Discovery website that it actually goes through.

If the device is on it usually stores your info and syncs when it has network connectivity. (The loading icon spun a while before it said it stored my info for later submission)
At least that happened for me during December when my gyms internet was knocked out in a massive storm.
But it only lasts a few day and your gym will need to restore connectivity.

Usually they do, not sure why they didn't this time.

That's just it, they removed the entire device as the gym is undergoing some maintenance, replacing equipment etc.

I get the logic, because they don't want to damage the device, but they could've done the whole roster thing.

This is the 2nd week that my bud won't make his target because of it.
