It is stated in the Law, i every country i think that like that, if i'm not mistaken. that when you and your spouse got divorced, the Guy should still support the ex-wife, though she can support herself, and specially when they have a child. half or percentage of his income goes to the ex-wife and the child. That's the law.
Wrong just been through this. As a "husband" I have no duty to support my wife only my children. The cost of raising the children is now split between the husband and wife regardless of who the kids stay with. The expenses to raise the kids is proportionality split between husband and wife based on Salary %. If the wife has not been working the court may order you to pay your wife a "salary" while she gets on her feet but it is normally accompanied by a time limit.
