Diwali Fireworks

I'm a douchebag?:wtf: for telling you to be a fsk'in responsible pet owner? If you want your pet to suffer don't make it another person's problem if know about it. Do you not expect to get dirty or do you wish that the dirt stays away from you:rolleyes:

Try again. Your trolling is a bit too obvious.

Actually, quite a few of my Hindu friends are JUST as disgusted as me with the fireworks.

No hindu endorses crackers. Why because they understand the purpose of the fireworks. You people take it too far by claiming and exaggerating the sound generated from aerial displays

the only non light producing firework I purchase are the twig rubs (the thing you stomp your feet on and it makes a crackling noise) and pop pops for the little kids

I do not purchase crackers. that just dumb. you light it and it goes bang wow so amazing :/

lol are you going to tell me the speed of sound its 340 meters per second ? and that my one second per 1000 meters is incorrect ?

firstly the speed of sound is not constent
secondly thats the speed of sound at sea level (thunder isnt at sea level now is it.)
thirdly speed of sound is dependent on humidity levels and air temperature as well.
fourthly most people dont count 1 second as exactly one second.

The variation in the speed of sound due to altitude, humidity etc is nowhere as great as you are suggesting.
A km a second?Really?

Im sure they not aware of your views on their religious practices.

Actually one of them is standing right next to me now and says he is equally disgusted as the behaviour he sees of people in this thread is at complete odds with the tenets of Hinduism and Diwali. Diwali is all about family and community, and the fireworks are supposed to drive evil spirits away. But there is no sense of community here at all.

is there anything else you would like to know ? must I explain the logarithmic relations of sound i.e the decibel as well ?

Speed of sound is nowhere near 1000 meters per second in air EVER. It gets SLOWER as you go higher as well. At 60000 feet it's 295m/s

Your argument is invalid.

Oh, you poor clown.

Pretty much.

Firstly, who said it is?
Secondly, the speed up in Jo'burg is less than 5m/s different to that at sea level.
Thirdly, not enough to make a difference when your measurement is counting out seconds.
Fourthly, people who try to count out seconds but end up counting 3 for every 1 are likely suffering from some severe head trauma.

is there anything else you would like to know ? must I explain the logarithmic relations of sound i.e the decibel as well ?
Oh please, no. You likely wouldn't know anything about that either.

Now, about using false imagery to bolster your position... I take it you are exhibiting the same level of academic diligence in compiling your thesis? Are you using crayons?

If you were not at my house you have absolutely no right to claim I am exaggerating ANYTHING.

Im aware of that yes, they lost their religiousness to societal oppression's.
Its sad really. Or they just too stingy to buy fireworks this year.

Either way looks like the websites crashing.

This thread makes me disgusted with some Hindu people.
I know a lot of really nice and good Hindu people and they would never behave or talk like some of these arrogant trolls in this thread.
You have brought shame and disrepute on your religion and on yourselves.

It's amazing the amount of entitlement on display here. These guys refuse to be accommodating of anyone else in their religious festivities, yet everyone else must bend over backwards to accommodate them.

No, there is no exaggeration involved. You seem to be harping on this "issue" but its not the case. There is no need to exaggerate the type of noise these things were making, it was loud enough.

I still don't know how religion is coming into play of your argument, yesterday was Diwali, what are you gonna do when its New Years and more people are using fireworks?

As I said earlier its an estimate. When people count seconds slow its not really one second now is it? its more like 1.5 closer to 2 seconds. So the speed of sound you are calculating roughly would be approximately 700m/s because your second is off.

Now its difficult to work quickly and calculate roughly and since you already doing a rough estimate you just round it off. Its a survival technique to estimate how far a storm is. I didnt invent it. You want to pretend you doing complex calculations ? go for it. I just said if you want to roughly calculate the distance you can go

1 ... 2 ... 3 and make 1 second 1km :/

We will still complain, still ask people nicely not to do it, and if they get otherwise call the cops.

Prove it then. You cant explain how you obtain illegal fireworks. You dont know where these magical fireworks come from. You have no real measurement of sound other than your subjective hearing

That is too damned funny....

Please continue, I enjoy watching you attempt to show us how you understand things.

Sigh. OK, whoever called you a clown was correct I guess.

You inhabit an alternate reality where basic physics breaks down, so there's likely no way to prove anything to you.

Now, about that false image you didn't bother to verify...?
