Diwali Fireworks

I want people to stop being poephols by firing the loudest, biggest fireworks they can find. The festival is supposed to be about chasing away the evil spirits with light, not trying to compete for who can be the most obnoxious.

Well I cant deny the fact that idiots compete. I will give you that point. HOWEVER they are allowed to light up by law. The fireworks they sell have been through customs and there is regulation in place.

If they wish to go to the limits of the legal fireworks then thats their choice. Like how some people drive 120 on the freeway and others 110 or 100 ... no one is breaking the law. You being that annoying driver that sits in the right lane at 90 and expects everyone to go around you

Since youve been on the forum for a few years, show us you thread about the complaints you layed on any of the new years passed.

Considering I'm usually busy celebrating new years with my family (without fireworks) I won't be browsing the internet on that day. I'll still be doing my part to report any tossers who wish to fire up their fireworks all over the place on New Years, though.

why you allowed to light fireworks on NYE ... its in the law. Another forumite posted the law a few pages back. Diwali is not the only day in the calender year you allowed to light fireworks. That the whole point that tech786 is trying to get to you

What difference does the cause make? The end result is the same.

Zewp didn't even have a fireworks problem yesterday but admitted that New Years would be an issue for him. Now his saying why should he accommodate for people's religious festivities? Does that even make sense, his a irresponsible pet owner and finds it easier to lay the blame on others.

In other words, people are purposely being obnoxious and inconsiderate, they refuse to accommodate those of us who have pets, yet we're the ones being intolerant and who should supposedly bend over backwards to accommodate them.

Solid logic. As I said earlier;

Here's the issue summed up in a nutshell.

Celebrate your religious festivals, I welcome it. Just do so within reason.

Accommodating each other, respect and courtesy are all two way streets. Fire your fireworks if you must, but take everyone around you into consideration as well.

Did some dweeb type that out?
That is not how legislation is typed out!!:D
What a joke!

There is a law allowing fireworks of no specification to be used within a certain time frame on religious holidays and Guy Fawkes.

you are the joke - a complete moronic joke
I have provided the link twice now in different sections.

for the 2nd time now, please provide some link confirming your claim regards religions being above the law regards fireworks

yes and its one day in 365 days .... so whats the problem?

the fireworks are legal.
It goes for a single night

who is really being intolerant here? ask yourself honestly

They do it on one day, at allowed times. Now your problem with it?

prejudiced ... your way of life is correct. What an ahole
I don't think you understand the word.

yeah we know what a decent individual you are asking for people to stop their culture especially when it has f*** all to do with you.
I live on this planet. It involves me.
We also know how stupid you are when it comes to regulation and the fact that you cant understand the difference between practice and certification
...says the genius who thinks banning an item leads to it being wiped from this realm of existence. Nobody can get their hands on a banned item, ever.

then you welcome to invent a firework thats silent .... aww wait you cant it requires energy to launch
Some more limp-wristed misrepresentation? There's a great, gaping chasm between 'silent' and 'loud as ****'. Just because you don't understand 8th-grade physics...

so you have an issue. You have no solution then you claim you not a fan of banning. ok then whats your solution ?
Through discussing issues openly society's willingness to tolerate backwards idiocy under the banner of 'religion' or 'culture' will slowly be diminished. It's not rocket science, so you may even grasp the gist of it.

you a real half wit
Ooooh... Burn... Ooooww...

This is RiaX's expectations summed up in a nutshell.

Same excuse for pet owners to be irresponsible

You don't know me, you don't know how I treat my pets. When tossers like you start firing fireworks I have to go to great lengths to try and keep my poor dog calm. I love my dog like it's part of my family. Stop throwing around unfounded accusations of people being 'irresponsible pet owners' when you don't know jack **** and you're defending the behavior of the people who are actually being irresponsible.

Stop trolling.

Obviously, because of the speed limit law, no-one EVER goes over 120, right? (I know your precious Toyota 86 CAN'T go over 120;) )

This obviously ridiculous argument is on a par with your assertion that there are no illegal fireworks anywhere in SA ...

Please follow the thread, many links have been posted it has been agreed upon that your link was false and not even a by law of any sort.

Tossers just starting firing fireworks? Any day of the week? I wish I could draw you a picture since you love pictures, I don't use fireworks as its the same principal as burning money for me but I don't say "bla bla... I can't believe someone is using fireworks on New Years Eve...".

The smell of Haldex gets even stronger when you peek your nose into last year's thread.

The responsibility lies with the pet owner. You take your child to the grand prix you make sure they have ear plugs. Was disgusted with the comments on twitter and Facebook from media personalities.

Theres a lot of you lousy people on Twitter nagging about the fireworks.
It is legal, between a certain time and for religious celebrations.

You should sedate your pets or keep them safe. This happens every year deal with it.
Seriously, if some minority groups in SA would love their fellow countrymen half as much as they do their pets, the country would be good!

All i know, is my dog went ****crackers last night hat i ended up giving her a sedative. She couldnt see the lights, she was under the duvet trying to keep calm. Sounded like baghdad in durban last night. Not sure how loud bangs equate to festival of lights???

Does your dog do the same when theres lightning and thunder?

Actually no, there are only a few of you who have posted links to city bylaws that you seem to think pertain to the types of fireworks you are allowed to use, when they don't.. they just pertain to WHEN fireworks may be used.
