Diwali Fireworks

Living in Durbs, I actually have many decent neighbours who light fireworks and stop by ten BUT there is always the one odd **@ *^*$@ $$$## who thinks it's his right to set the alarms off and yes, as toxic says, rattle the windows.

At least they're a dying breed, probably losing a few fingers helps.

No it's not in the slightest the same thing. One is your experience, one is mine (which happens to be shared by a fair number of people). The other is group of ppl telling the community that they don't care and will do whatever they want, even if it causes people and pets to suffer.

There is no link on the Durban site for a policy so a ward councillors site is the next best thing.

You're preaching to the choir here. This guys has proven time and again that he's rock dumb and no amount of reasoning is going to change that. He's just going to keep thinking up lame excuses for why it's acceptable to fire massive fireworks in the middle of a residential area and then insist that it's totally cool to shift all the responsibility for this disturbance away from the people actually causing the disturbance.

We'll probably have the same fight with him next year when he's using another clone account.

Fireworks aren't just lit on Diwali though, people light them on Guy Fawkes and New Years too. I'm sure it's not your intention, but the OP and thread title suggests that you're against fireworks on Diwali and not any of the other occasions on which they're lit...

It may have been an initial lapse in the post but it has been rectified multiple times in this thread. I am against large fireworks being used in a residential area on any day of the year.
