Do computer parts vary in performance

really?:o
Hah, now my [-]money wasting[/-] investment is justified!

Strange how some people will shell out thousands of Rands for a CPU but then object to paying for quality RAM :D (not directed at you, of course :p)

/me waits for killadoob to tell me how all RAM is alike and cheap RAM performs just as well ;)

no cheap ram does not

but transend 800mhz for 180 is as good as any ram out there

i dont believe in buying expensive ram for a 5% increase :)

yea but you dont get different quality cpu's
i mean you dont get a quadcore q6600 thats less quality than another q6600

i bought q6600 knowing i could get 3-3.4ghz out of it, when i could just have bought a much more expensive quaddie :)

why buy the more expensive model if you can achieve those speeds for less
same applies to ram

also a quadcore cpu has much more than a 5% increase over a much cheaper cpu

if that memory performed 50% faster yes but come on 5% for a premium just aint good cricket :)

lol

g0 is just cooler which is better for ocing :), both cpu's still rated exactly the same when at stock :)

i dunno ivan my quaddie sits on 3.4ghz :) im almost sure its not much slower than yours

plus when games start using all 4 cores then your going to fork out more cash, where as we wont have to :)

not directed at my E6850 that I bought instead of a Quad 3GHz? :p

/waits for talks/moanages about my processor being faster in some applications but not futureproof

You know, your CPU might be faster in some applications but it's not futureproof :p

Happy now? :D

lol

g0 is just cooler which is better for ocing :), both cpu's still rated exactly the same when at stock :)

Don't forget that it uses less power as well (apparently) :D

yea but it came out after which was clever cause i know ppl who sold their quaddie to buy that one :)

intel they are smart i tell you

All the Overclocking fanatics must all be wrong then. Wonder why they overclock the ram then and even watercool them.

I maybe is making no difference in Excel YES but when coming to the real nitty gritty is all a different story all together!

im not talking about excel

gaming etc there is no more than a 5% increase with all this expensive ram

do you really think that transend 800mhz with copper cooler on cannot oc?

well strange because when i had my e6300 this memory was sitting 960 which is not so bad considering its so cheap

i dont mind if you want to spend 3x the amount on 5% gains thats your thing, all im saying is it does not make sense to spend the kind of money ppl spend on high end ram when the gains are slight to say the least

atleast going from an e6300 to quaddie you notice a massive difference, the same cannot be said about gaming ram vs run of the mill ram
