Everyone should know that even if you port your pre-paid number to telkom you will be forced to stay with them for 3 months even though you do not have any service. You will not be informed of this fact by anyone except when you need to move your number to a network with service. Do not be fooled by cheap prices!

Are you talking about porting your number from a different network TO Telkom?
Or are you talking about porting your number AWAY from Telkom to a different network?
Are you talking about porting your number from a different network TO Telkom?

So we should stay away from Telkom because of a pretty standard number portability rule?
You should probably have checked if other networks have similar rules before posting.

OP has a problem with the fact that once you port your number to Telkom, you have to wait before porting to a different network.
I was told I have to wait to 3 months before I can port out.
If your underpants does not meet your needs you will change them too....
Which must have been quite frustrating but I know you have to wait 2 months for MTN and Vodacom too.
If your business depends on the number and no one can get hold of you it is economically detrimental to you.

Why you went to Hellkom in the first place baffles me. I also learnt the hard way to just stay away from them.

When it works it is ok but when it doesn't try and get any service out of them. Try and cancel.

I’d rather support Telkom than Vodacom or MTN.
And that's why so many businesses fail, because no tested business plan or research done before starting up, then crying in public forums when your underpants get soiled.
