Do u Pirate games?

I did the whole copy in school thing, but since having a job I've basically gotten rid of all of those copies and bought legit software. I now have a huge collection of games, some of them classics. Some have great manuals and extras while others are basically box and disk with maybe one sheet in *cough*The Orange Box*cough* :D

Way back when I also used to get them for my PS1 console, used to go to certain shops and ask for "copy games", and they would go scratch in the back and bring it to you. Mostly Chinese made I think.

I no longer believe in piracy, and will never ever buy from those kinds of shops again. I do deplore the drastic copy protection schemes some companies use, it really can mess up your enjoyment of the game if it interferes. Copy protection is fine, but ideally it should not interfere with the game in any way.

70% of the games I have are legal, bought them myself! (collection of around 200 now, quite a sight to behold, I hold more stock then some gaming stores)

The other 30% are pirated, but I get these because I couldn't get them the legal way!

I am all for legal gaming but if I can't them legally then I will pirate them, sorry!

Well, seeing as I only game on my XBOX these days (and on rare occasions I'll play some DOS classics), I can't buy pirated games. I don't want to either - there's a sense of worth you add to something "original" you bought.

I used to pirate games while I was at school, but I've since stopped. I've never bought a pirated copy though. All of them was copied from friends.

I buy all of my games these days, but I only buy games that interest me in some way. I only have two or three games that I regret buying.

When I lan with some friends, I will copy a game just for the lan. But I will either delete or buy the game after the lan, depending on if I find the game worthy. I bought CnC3 like this, but deleted UT3, since it didn't interest me.

Mostly these days i buy them if i have enjoyed the demo or know its going to be great, other wise if im unsure of its ****ty i'd rather copy them from someone first before spending a R300+ on it. have bought some pirates a long time ago (that was more school / student days).

The problem anyways nowadays is that you can't just go by a title- just because, just think last remnant which was totally *** even though sqaure made it and they are the final fantasy creators.

This is not to mention many games are release without being properly tested or optimized, those days when it came out and was ****ing mind blowing and just worked from day one seems to be long over for most releases anyways....

exactly

For me it probably started with Morrowind, they only really polished the game after it reached game of the year status, but by then the wow appeal had alreaddy been lost on me. Unreal Tournament 2003 was a total buggerup too, so by 2003 I vowed to stop buying computer games. When last did you see a 'modern' game being sold in discount bins? You know, those for R50 - 100. Its almost always games prior to 2002.. These new games won't be remembered 2-3 years down the line. So why would I want to buy them ? They are purely commercialised garbage

I hardly know anyone who buys their games. Be it PC or Console... Mods should create a poll for us. Bet more than 50% pirate.

I will pirate a game through file sharing, and if I like it, I buy it ( got about 20 original games) . I never ever ever buy a pirated game, and I would never dream of selling pirated stuff.

For those who say they need to test the game and that's why they pirate. Any reason you can't test by using a demo??

I used to in the early 90s when I was a teenager because I couldn't afford them, nor where they available. Now that I have cash for my hobby, I always buy my games (xbox360) and then resell the originals when complete

Yes if i have the demo great but if i cant find it but i can find the full version at a lan kwl beans. Also downloading the demo from the net will cost a fortune with our prices so thats not really an option.

Because a 40 minute demo doesn't represent a 15 hour game. It's skewed towards promoting just the good parts, and some companies are plain better at making demos than others.

I want to give my money to companies that make good GAMES, not just good demos.
