The probability of life existing elsewhere is a certainty, in statistical terms, a 1. The probability of it or us contacting other life due to the time and distances involved is 0.
 
Look at our MPs and you won't even have to answer the question.

Yeah, even if they detected a radio transmission (which really is the best hope of any communication), it will take multiple generations if not hundreds or thousands of years for the message to reach us and it will take the same amount of time to beam a response. The sci-fi movies never tell you that we can't communicate with other galaxies in real time. Even sending a message back and forth from Mars to Earth takes between 3-22 minutes each way AFAIK.

There was the "Wow" signal in 1977 which to this day nobody has totally confirmed what it was. Even if it was a signal from another civillization, they may well be dead by the time our responses get/got to them. Not even sure if things like SETI which try to trace signals from other civilizations are worth it because even if they one day find something, it will just be undecipherable code with no hope of meaningful communication.

They'd much rather put effort into deep searching the solar system for microbes. We might be able to find that in another few generations the way tech is advancing.

People hear what they want to. Avi Loeb said on a scale of 1 to 10, there's a possibility of 4 that the object is not natural, due to its eight anomalies. But if he were to place money on it, he would bet on natural.

If that makes him a crackpot, then people who think out the box are crackpots, and it's a positive attribute.
 
We are judging these phenomena with 21st century technology and current science

In the not too distant future

"Telepathic" or non-verbal human communication will be commonplace
You will be able to control machines with human thought
Transportation will not require physical motors or a propulsion system
Quantum physics will render all current natural laws obsolete
The limitation of space-time will no longer be relevant

And of course "life" on another planet might not be carbon-based or humanoid

According to who?

Einstein said its impossible to travel faster than light and I'm not sure tech, no matter how developed it can be will ever overcome that. If a spacecraft had to travel at the speed of light, it would need to circle the earth seven times in one second. We definitely are not achieving that in the "not too distant future".

Even by travelling at the speed of light, it would still take thousands if not millions of years to get to the stars in the observable universe so we would need to travel far faster than the speed of light to get to other galaxies and stars in reasonable time.

You forget that it's possible to bend space; wormhole theory. There's always someone new thinking out the box, nothing is set in stone IMHO.
 
my question is always, how do we know the aliens aren't on earth already, been here for centuries, and here is the wild bit,
what if early humans met or reproduced with aliens, what if their DNA is so similar to our own and so intertwined

that you cant possibly tell what is Alien and what is local Ape

I mean we made quite a jump in evolution in quite a short amount of time in planetary terms,
what if it wasn't all down to our environment and natural selection, what if we were "seeded" by an alien civilization to see how we would develop on our own in a remote corner of the cosmos.

a experiment as it were, like I mentioned we know so little and so much of what we do know is suppressed knowledge
as it keeps the average joe, paying taxes and having babies and not asking too many questions from the elite.

There are other books that consider that the "gods" of many religions were some sort of alien race that had genetically modified and enslaved us, not sure if @wingnut771 's book follows similar thinking or not.

Quite a lot on the subject out there but I forget titles. Look for Eric von Doneken (spelling?) , Graham Hancok & Robert Bauval, Edgar Casey, etc.

Surprisingly full of possibility, but in your case may send you over the edge...

too late on that count, Im already a firm believer in what we see around us,
events, time frames, discoveries, politics, and much much more,

all being a fraction on a percent of what is really going on that is suppressed
because if the truth got out somehow, our entire civilization would collapse instantly.
 
I really wish aliens exist, which they probably do given the probabilities when we contemplate the vastness of our universe, but just to humble humanity a bit and make us think differently about our importance in the grand scheme of things.
 
Beware the Greys in particular.

Note how they've somehow become the main pictured representatives of popular alien thinking and humour. They're considered hybrids, not actual self-aware beings, and yes they're said to kidnap and experiment with us (mostly in the US).
