The fact that they sent a letter instead of an email, sums them up tbh. What is this, 1985?

The fact that they even got his letter is pretty amazing considering the state of the postal service.

There is strong movement against the SABC - particularly when it comes to paying TV licences.

Ignoring corruption and mismanagement allegations against executives like Hlaudi Motsoeneng, do you still get any value from the SABC? Whether it is listening to one of its radio stations or watching a show on one of its channels.
No.

It's actually hilarious how Motsoeneng believes he holds a position of power somehow. Like, he can dictate to us what we must watch whether we like it or not - like there are no other options.

Meanwhile, he's just screwing himself and his colleagues at the SABC out of a cozy job where you don't need to do much right in the first place to have success.

Its called delusion of grandeur AFAIK

There are lots of people (probably the majority in SA) for whom the SABC is their only source of TV / Radio entertainment...

Haven't watched SABC in about 7 years, so it grates me that I still have to pay the licence to keep myself from getting blacklisted. Can't even get a signal where I am in any event.

That PSL coverage on weekends comes in handy when you don't want to pay even R340 for DSTV repeats.

I still listen to 5fm from time to time while driving it's my 3rd option. Other than that the SABC offers no value. Also never had a tv license

I don't own a TV, never have; haven't watched SABC for 10 years now... And I don't do radio as there's no metal there ^^

I don't understand the question.
What is this SABC you speak of?
How can one get value out of nothing?

I do not watch commercial TV, be it SABC or DSTV, nor do I listen to commercial radio such as 5fm. So for me there is no value in paying the SABC something I never use, or want to use.

Personally I don't watch anything on TV, but a lot of people in SA can't afford data to stream music/shows/movies/etc, so the SABC is still very relevant.

I do however have an issue with having to pay a TV license when I only use my TV set to watch streamed stuff - Netflix, Showmax, etc. I wish I could opt out of it, but the process and cost of such is actually not worth it.

unfortunately not....failing companies throughout SA is what we get for democracy....
