Do you hog bandwidth?

Recent figures about monthly broadband data usage sheds light on how much bandwidth international broadband users consume per month

According to those figures I'm not even on the reserve bench, maybe the towel boy or water boy.
:P

Since I got my mweb 4m uncapped I've been doing between 700 and 800 gigs [edited] per month, so I must be a bandwidth hog

No - using a 4Mb/s Uncapped for an office with 10 users :-)

Guess we're doing around 50GB/month.

Mostly during peak hours.

But, I've scheduled my "large" backup runs to run Sunday mornings from midnight... (around 100MB a shot)

Oi SA is soo far behind what is considered acceptable in the rest of the world (mostly).

lol 2680gb any were else in the world would be considered small!!!!!

I just love this FUP:

We understand excessive volume consumption to mean consumption that is at least double the average volume consumption of all subscribers for your Internet product.

If the average usage moves upward, the "cap" is automatically adjusted.

How much bandwidth is LEFT - They have used it all!!!!
What if the entire internet gets downloaded!
AHHHHH
must - down- load some - thing now - quick - before its all go-onne1!1!!11!1

yes you are! please stay off our internet

All my downloads are legit. Try getting an Apple Tv and download a couple hi-def tv shows and movies every month. Then combine it with a MSDN subscription and you are three quarters of the way there

hmmm, the answer is no and yes.

No because I don't think I am currently utilising my uncapped line to it's fullest potential. I pretty much only use around 10 gb a day spaced out over the day.

BUT... if I wanted to utilise it to the maximum I would have no problem with doing so... since I paid for it... I have no problem with using what I have paid for.

If that makes me a bandwidth hog... then so be it. Don't sell me the product if you don't want me to use it.

And I really don't give a crap about other users. I give a crap about my online experience for which I am paying a premium price. Other users are not my problem... they are the ISPs problem. Don't make your problem my problem. If you can't handle that many users then upgrade your network or serve on a first come first served basis.

The term "bandwidth hog" is pejorative.... some people by nature or by need use more than others. It is a fact of life. As long as they pay for it.

If they made local bandwidth cheaper so that Web 2.0 and locally provided services could flourish you wouldn't have to have that much international bandwidth
