I would love to see every woman in the country carrying a FA and being trained how to use it. Then we will see how many bastards dare to raise a hand to a woman, or try anything worse.

I have never felt uncomfortable drinking with my gun or being with people armed and drinking. I grew up in a farming community and till recently still owned a family farm. EVERYONE was carrying ALL the time. People who can handle themselves don't use their firearms in an argument or a fist fight. It's people who can't handle themselves in a one on one that would pull a weapon. You will never be at a braai or gathering at a farm and not have at least 90% of them carrying

Those are the people who will be very thankful when a good guy with a gun stops a bad guy with a gun from hurting them.
The weak always talk big when they are safe but shut their mouths when they realise that the world isnt how they imagine it to be.

You are allowed to carry on a sports license.
The use of a FA in self-defense situation, whether the FA is licensed under S13, S15 or S16 is considered a lawful use of the FA.

True, but technically if a police officer inspects you, then you need to 'explain' why you are carrying a non s13 in public etc. Also, if you use it for a valid reason in public, same story, prosecutor can argue why you carried it in public etc. Most likely lose the license.

Technically, that is not the case yet. I know government is trying to distinguish between Self defense licenses and Sports licenses. There was talks about it last year, no idea if it's been passed yet.

I would much rather have a gun on a sporting license and defend myself in court should I use it for self defense, than not have it on me and get killed.

Yes, Glock 19 Gen 4. Carry 24/7 and have done so for 19 years. Another 9mmp is in the safe but I always have one on me.
Wife and son both knows how to load, use and clean them.

You can carry on s15 or s16 with no need to explain "lawful purpose" as per the wording of the FCA below:

Section 13:
(4) A firearm in respect of which a licence has been issued in terms of this section may be used where it is safe to use the firearm and for a lawful purpose.

Section 15:
(4) A firearm in respect of which a licence has been issued in terms of this section may be used where it is safe to use the firearm and for a lawful purpose.

Section 16:
(3) A firearm in respect of which a licence has been issued in terms of this section may be used where it is safe to use the firearm and for a lawful purpose.
Section 16A:
(3) A firearm in respect of which a licence has been issued in terms of this section may be used by the professional hunter for his or her private use and professional hunting purposes where it is safe to use the firearm and for a lawful purpose.

Nah, but quite like knowing the guys are packing . Brother says he feels undressed without his. He and BIL trek out to target shoots whenever they can - its an expensive hobby. They also do their own reloading and found out that even experts can give the wrong advice. Bro filled his casing as recommended and the bullet jammed in his rifle. VERY fortunate the weapon didn't explode.

P. S. I've handled a few pistols and rifles but not keen to own one.
