Sure I can afford it. Take out a contract and pay it off monthly, just like 90% of flagship fanboyz, or wait 6 months for the price to drop by half of it's original cost.

I only ever buy cash and R20k (give or take) for a smartphone is never justified.

You are missing the point even though it is crystal clear even from your own post. Simply put, Android manufacturers make all kinds of differing quality phones and and Apple don't. Screen resolution, Gorilla Glass, RAM, ROM, CPU etc etc etc.

I had an S7 Edge and a Huawei P8 lite at the same time, and although the P8 lite was nice, the difference in quality and speed was clear. You're not comparing, erm, Apples with apples

It's a toy that you get bored of very quickly, so you dump it thinking the next version is the holy grail. Only it isn't.

So, as you say, it's very easy to get an iPhone. So not much of a 'status symbol' now is it? Yet somehow it's always an accusation leveled at iPhone users?

I must say, it's great picking apart these rabid Android users claims one by one. Who knows, maybe at the end of this thread we might have a consensus that the choice between phones is nothing to do with anything other than personal choice.

For the record, I like both. But not being a child I don't need a toy at this stage of my life, I need a phone. And at the moment, my iPhone is my choice. The same as my Galaxy S2 Tab is my choice because it suits my work purpose better.

Let me explain it to you this way, some people like brandy, others like something else only made by one manufacturer.

Pure brandy is what I'd say is the best, not on the rocks, not mixed, just neat. No mater what manufacturer made it, just keep it neat for me. But it's still brandy and therefor superior to something else only made by one manufacturer.

I understand it perfectly, so when are you going to show how the majority of Android manufacturers are so clever and only use "the best OS"*?

Probably. If you look at masses of network branded phones (Vodafone) and other Chinese phones they all pretty much run stock Android, some with the odd bloatware app you can uninstall.

It's amazing, I actually find my S8+ to be the best all round media device (or was last year when I bought it), however I actually prefer the ease of use and smoothness of iOS when a comparison is made.

Android does some things well, iPhone does other things well.

It seems the poor, the slow thinkers and the stupid can't comprehend that simple fact.



Because I spent so much on the Samsung last year seems to mean I'm supposed to insult and belittle iPhone like [-]eg2[/-] some fools do...

i-Phone 6s. I don't like it. Too fiddly, to slow to switch on or off, needs charging every day (unless switched off!), slow in operation. I bought it for my wife, and she quickly cascaded it to me in return for an S7 edge. She did not like the i-phone either, any more than I do. In the UK it is rated a 'best buy' by Which? I am going off them! I fortunately paid around £250 (ZAR 4250) for it in the UK, rather than the gross amounts you pay when just out. That in turn is about what the S7 cost here. The i-phones are for social media users, which I am not. To use a cell phone to operate the complex gate (not a system I recommend) takes 2 key strokes on my old (2009) Nokia, and something like 12 on the 6s.

iPhone 5s and its updated with the latest iOS version and still no problems. Going to probably update it until it bricks but I'm not worried because it's a spare phone.
