How can I pay a R500 fine when the cop wants a R20 bribe?
 
I have tried to be good in the past, but since the lazy coppers have started rolling out these portable traps that look like power or telecom junction boxes, I don't bother anymore. This government abuses and misuses every cent they get from hard-working individuals such as myself, and now the lazy pigs don't even have to be present to earn their wage? I don't think so. Speed traps have become less about what they were originally meant for (road safety) and more about revenue collection (layering the feeding trough). I'm not playing that game. You want my money? Work for it.
 
Sure, I'd pay. Why not. But I'd have to get one in the first instance. AFAIK, I haven't had any in years. I like to keep it that way.
 
I had three fines on my car and they just dissapeared.

Interestingly, the one fine was for doing 100km in a 60km zone, but the penalty was only R400
 
When stopped next to the road, on each occasion I was asked to pay a bribe, which I recorded and when I told them it was recorded, they sent me on my way. (The speed was marginally over the limit.)
As far as cameras are concerned, deliver the summons, then I will pay.
 
I used to be a rule breaker, but now I don't speed. So i'm good :)
 
NO - Have received notifications to collect the fines at P.O bt never collected them

No, because I don't get any.

If you have a PO Box go and change your address to that address. By law they have to hand deliver the summons and you have to sign for it. With a PO Box they have no proof that you've received the summons.
 
I don't speed but the very few times that I accidentall did (generally because I missed a speed sign) I do pay. Think I have had perhaps 5-7 fines in my 20 years of driving and 3 of those where right after I had a speedometer repaired which changed its sensitivity throwing my estimation of my true speed off.
 
I pay for fines that I KNOW I have "earned."
If I made the mistake I need to own up, man up and pay.
Just because I don't like being caught breaking the law doesn't mean that I won't pay.

On the other hand, if I get a fine for driving through an amber robot, or "not stopping at a stop sign" when I DID, then I have issues.
