Did not have one for more than 20 years touch wood. Received an e-Toll account last year, which I ignore as my vehicle was not near Gauteng.
 
I haven't had one in ages but when I do get one I always go and have them reduced. :-)
 
I received a summons last month. I'm going to pay. It's much easier paying the fine now than to be locked up when you least expect it.
 
Haven't received one for over 10 years. And the only time I got them was in Pretoria, usually when going down a hill then would see under the bridge one of those b******s sitting and camping. "Speeding Kills" they love to put on the posters, I say BS. Unroadworthy vehicles and stupid/reckless driving kills people, but the cops don't focus on that!
 
I ve had quite a few and I paid them all up. One time I felt it was given unfairly and went to query and applied for remittance and it was granted. Another time didn't have money I went and sought remission, it was granted. Afterall I take responsibility for my actions and pay up without questioning the system. I want to drive without hassle on the road,with no fear
 
Only paid once when I was issued a fine by a traffic officer. Licence disk expired and I was fined R1000k. I renewed the disk, then asked for remittance and the fine was reduced to R500 which I paid.

Few years ago I also got a fine in a different province for not coming to complete stop at a stop street. I ignored it and it just never surfaced again

I have a bit of a worry about a similar one I received when bringing my bike down from Nelspruit.

Issued next to the road which I believe is a summons but I somehow misplaced it on my way down or left it at one of the places I stayed maybe.

Tried calling what I presume are the relevant offices but nobody could find anything linked to my ID number.
 
I have a very simple approach to life. If I've done something wrong, like speeding, I need to fix it, which means paying the fine. Only by following this life rule do I have the right to then speak up against people who don't do this. Like building a homestead with public funds. Same thing, different scale.
 
Yup, paid all my fines. Two for expired licences (not my fault - car wasn't registered to me at the time) and three for speeding (my fault). *shrugs* Honestly I don't see why you wouldn't pay if you recognise you're in the wrong. Hell, even if you're not in the wrong it's often better to pay for the convenience of getting it settled than trying to fight it in court or ducking people delivering warrants to your home (how invasive is that???).

Agree completely! However there are exceptions! Received ten fines on my son's car which is standing in our yard since he is in Korea. Cloned number plate problems again! Pictures clearly show a Lexus, my son's car is an I10!!
Fortunately the Cape Town traffic department was very helpful and reversed all the fines and summonses immediately plus placed a block on that number until they can trace Mr Lexus who obviously has no respect for speed limits.
 
yes, I pay my fines but honestly a few years ago I would have not and I would have rather paid to have them disappear....does this mean I am growing up?
 
They seem to prefer a quick tip. Writing out a fine is work..
 
I pay when they pull me over and fine me. Except the last one. Tried to pay it repeatedly, but it just wasn't on the system. I usually pay within the 30 day window to get the discount, but this time I couldn't. Two months after the fine was issued, I received an sms that I had to pay my fine- no more 30 day discount period. Now they can wait. I'm in no hurry to pay it anymore.
