PAY ON SUMMONS. BUT NEVER SEEM TO ARRIVE. wHAT WORRIES ME IS IF MY WIFE IS STOPPED IN A ROADBLOCK TRAFFIC DEPT SEEM TO HAVE THE IMPRESSION THEY CAN ARREST BEFORE SUMMONS ISSUED AND BEFORE COURT DAY. i KNOW IT IS WRONG BUT THAT DOESN'T HELP MY WIFE.

Last week I was literally blocked from getting my drivers license renewed until I'd paid a 5 year old fine which I didn't know existed.

So it really doesn't matter what your viewpoint is (or what the courts are doing about it), if you want your license you just have to pay up.

(should mention that this is in Jhb, which is AARTO managed. Other municipalities may be different)

I'd go pay that ASAP, there may be a warrant out for your arrest already, spot fines where a police officer hands you the ticket or leaves it on your windshield serves as a summons, you either pay the fine of appear in court failing which a warrant for your arrest is normally issued.

You can always just wait till the next road block and see how it goes :D :(

I agree. A friend of mine recently went to get a new car license. There was a summons issued to him of which he knew nothing about. And yes...stopped at the roadblock and spend the night in jail maybe.

A fine is like a few bucks. The punishment for typing in caps is a Forumite that will, Kneecap you after he ham-stringed and removed your kidneys with a keyboard. and hand sanitizer.

Because you know when you did wrong and don't have a myriad excuses and justifications for being unable or unwilling to operate your vehicle in the prescribed limit. I wonder why the non fine payers even bother with a drivers licenses.
 
I don't, until it looks like the next step is the enforcement order. I think of it as passive resistance; it's virtually always partly-manned speed cameras, generally along open sections of road, and I get caught at 71kph almost every time. I get annoyed that there's zero visible policing.
