Do you prefer doing your banking online or through your bank's smartphone app?

I like having the choice. For some things the app is better, for others the website is better.

What I don't like is when they want you to use the app over the website. That makes no sense to me.

Allow me to explain. FNB incentivizes people to use the app. You only earn eBucks if you use the app once during a month, and you get eBucks reward points for making 4 transactions using the app in a given month. So, I use the app for transactions only because I have to in order to maximize my eBucks earn.

The reason it makes no sense to me is that I understand what FNB is trying to do - they want you to use their electronic banking channels instead of their branches. Fair enough, the branches are expensive to run and so I can see why they want people to use branches. What I don't get is why FNB prefers you to use the app instead of the website. It's the same effing thing! What difference does it make, FNB?

As far as I am aware, my banking app needs the internet to do banking, thus both are online banking.

starting to enjoy the app for day to day. Need app anyway as part of 2FA

Website

Easier to check things like the SSL cert. Also, I can do more on the Internet banking website than the app

Mobile phone banking is a bit clumsy compared with being on-line on a computer, at least with Capitec

Did not know this - thanks. I use it at least once a month to activate the ebucks...

I prefer online when I need to download a proof of payment.

Prefer using the website on my PC, cos everything is more comfortable on a PC.

App is convenient though for occasional stuff like buying airtime, or paying pre-added beneficaries when not around my PC.

App for daily transactions. Online for statements, setting up stop orders, etc.
