Yes, absolutely. Hardcore word processing, Excel work, and just general productivity still most efficient with desktop. And the gaming also makes it a must in my life.

Yes and I'm loving it but problem is I'm always on the move now I'm kind forced to use Tablets or Laptop.

Couple of micro servers and a desktop media center at home.

Laptop and desktop ("Servers" ) at work

Desktops are still useful

Gaming PC , and to print to my Canon printer (which is old and doesn't allow my Macbook to print to it)

I use a Macbook Pro for all of my work and it definitely has more than enough power, and adds the ability of freedom of movement. I am a web developer and designer and do not ever experience problems with performance in any way. Other then my laptop I use a smartphone and a tablet, but neither of those are really work related.

Yes , primarily as a host for now...but will be moving to a cloud based server soon

Desktop both at work and home. I have not been a fan of laptops for a while, and now do have a ThinkPad. Desktop remains my favorite though. For productivity on the move, my Nokia N900 Internet Tablet still performs good enough for my use cases.

I use it for work, gaming and browsing the internet. I've never even owned a laptop.

The most versatile form of computer

Although I have a smart phone, tablet and modern laptop, my computer of choice is still my desktop with a full size keyboard, mouse and flat screen monitor.

As I touch-type (ex navy telecommunications) I can communicate so much faster and easier with a full size keyboard. In addition a desktop PC allows me to easily upgrade components if necessary and I have substantially more power than any other smaller device when considering cost versus performance.

I read my emails when away from the home or office on my Galaxy smart phone or tablet like everyone else but if I need to send a message then if it can wait, then I would prefer to use my desktop and proper keyboard.

What's wrong with a laptop you might ask, well you do not have much control over what keyboard you get with a laptop. Laptop keyboards are generally fine for the hunt and peck typist but they lack the feel of a high quality keyboard.

No real typist would choose one of the new "Chiclet" flat keys popular with most modern keyboards either. There is no way to identify if you are hitting the center of the key or the edge when touch typing on one of those. You need indented key tops for that with the two raised feeler bars on the f and j keys to find your home finger positions.

And there is not much motivation to dragging a full size keyboard around with your laptop although some people do take an external mouse with them to use with their laptop rather than the membrane mouse system popular on laptops.

Nope, when I have the choice, I prefer to work on a desktop machine.

Yes I still have to use a desktop (try to do most of my work on my notebook though). Virtual reality is intensive but laptops in 2 years time should be much more affordable and then I might will switch over to completey using powerful notebooks.

Still using a desktop for work, gaming, movies and just about everything else.
I gave my laptop to my wife to replace her old laptop.
