Any relationship has its challenges. It depends on how the challenge is handled that dictates your success.
We never let the sun set on a disagreement.
 
I employ a domestic one day a week to do the clothes and ironing and general one a week clean of the house, and a gardener once every 2 weeks to mow the lawn (fscked if I'm mowing half an acre that often), all the other gardening work is largely on me so I only plant indigenous stuff to keep the maintenance low and it has the side benefit of bringing birds and butterflies bevok to the yard.

Other than that, its all on me and the missus during the week so we keep things as light as possible so it doesn't suck up huge volumes of time.

**** that. I tinker in the garage until she's asleep and then I go to bed. Whatever the issue is, it'll still be there in the morning, and you can discuss it with a lot less emotion fuelling the argument.

This.....except for the marriage duration. We have only been married 6 years so far.

Never had a domestic or gardener also will never have one
 
Wife and I split the chores around the house, which also makes you a little more careful wrt messing the place and after the lockdown started we have been doing our own gardening.

Now that we are in a routine of cleaning up the place, it is always neat and the only tough job is the sweeping/mopping up.

Yeah that is what we thought. Then my wife got sick couple of months after we got married. Been married for 7 years, been sick for almost 7 years.

So now it is running a busines, then need to clean house, make food, care for my wife and see to the rest of the family.

Domestic and Gardener once a week makes such a big difference.

If there are two healthy people in the house there is no reason for the extra hands. Although it does help out unemployment rate as well and feed another family.

Get a robot to do the sweeping an mopping.
 
Gardener, more for the income as for the amount of work, especially now in winter. Have a 2000m² stand , so there's enough to keep busy with for 2 days a week. Still have a domestic lady (been with us a day a week since 1987, and full time since 1999) , but she hasn't been in since start of lockdown. Health risk to travel by taxi at her age. Still pay her salary. With the wife and I both working from home now, it's been easier getting around to cleaning and meals :)
