Someone stuck two steps in the middle of the house so I'd have to buy two. That sort of money would cover a lot of manual labour (which would obv include dishes, laundry, ironing...)

Laundry. Dirty clothes go straight to machine.
Ironing. Buy clothes that doesn't require ironing and hang them up straight after washing.

Use a rent a maid service once a month to do some deep cleaning.

Housekeeper once a week. Although we gave her 5 weeks off due to lockdown, so for a while it's only us.

Gardener once every two weeks, but that is more like charity at the moment. Since getting them we replaced the real lawn with face grass, so they get R150 for less than an hour of work.

The local laundry do it by the kg, the price is really good, I might just bag everything one day and try them out.

I have a maid that does most of the cleaning, but my wife and I also clean up when she is not there.

We mow our own lawn (ride on), but the maid does the tidying up in the garden.

We wash our own cars. I even wash my work bakkie most times.

My wife, son and I know how to and do use the washing machine and dishwasher.

Yeah, we have a Domestic and Gardener - we have 3 kids and both work, its a crap-ton of washing. It's only once a week though to give the place a thorough clean.

Our time is valuable, this is one of the few ways I can get it back - we also have individual and family hobbies - with all the housework, I don't want to spend my weekend cleaning

We used to I employ a domestic once a week mainly for ironing and general chores. Its myself, the missus and a 7 year old. The bulk of the washing and iron is due to the kid. Gardening once every 2 weeks to maintain the garden. For the last year and something its been just the gardener.

We adopted the approach of cleaning up immediately. It has worked somewhat.

We have a full time nanny to help with our son and clean around the house and a gardener once a week.

We keep the house neat and tidy during the week, do all the washing and dishes our self, Domestic irons, wash floors, polish. 4 Bedroom 2 bathroom free standing house.

Gardener/Handyman, does the garden, wash the cars, clean the lapa and does general handyman stuff IE painting, Chopping my fire wood, new lights etc.

We call them children. They don't get paid.

Washing machine for clothes. Dishwasher for plates, cutlery and such, excluding a very small list of exceptions. No-one wears anything that needs ironing.

As for cleaning the house it is the dusting that is the most hassle. Vacuuming or washing the floors is no big deal.

Gardening I mostly do. Just bring in someone once a year to trim the trees. Also do most of the maintenance unless it is something major.

We do it ourselves. Have not been making use of domestic workers the past 10 or so years. Unfortunately, the laws in SA is not friendly towards employers. As for gardening services, we make use of a service coming in once a week. It is a one-man business who we have been supporting for at least 15 years now.
