They always ask you if they can do all that though, isn't it?. At least they do wherever I go. Somehow, I feel obliged to give them money - not sure why. /shrugs as it is just once a month so not a big deal

I think I have any one of those problems maybe 1 in more than 100 times filling up? Don't know where you go. And besides, how can you fill up yourself? They have tags they need to use making it impossible to fill up yourself..?

Yes I agree would be great if everyone got paid a living wage and tipping wasn't necessary, but that is not reality in this country.

They perform a largely unnecessary service that I'm forced to use. I'd far rather have the option to pump my own fuel etc.

I'll tip if the attendant has done something more than just pump my fuel, like going to the effort of putting air into my spare, mainly because I'm looking for a reason to help the guy out, but I really would prefer to just do it all myself.

They tag and run around doing other things.
 
Sometimes if they do more than just put fuel. I can put my own fuel in i do it overseas a lot.

But if there's some kind of added service i will.
 
In a country with such a large unemployment rate, I'd rather have more employment than more desperate hunger people.
But hey that's just me.

By that logic it makes sense to employ a bunch of people to dig holes and fill them back up again.

I'm all for job creation, but the jobs need to be productive.
 
Only if I asked them to wash the windscreen or pump the tyres. Maybe if the windscreen is dirty and he decides to clean it. But not those that just wash windscreen that is not even dirty

It's a service I don't really need, but am required to use by law.

I mean... don't worry... the hole-diggers would be required by law if that's what you're worried about...

Everyone having the right to earn a living doesn't mean a largely pointless job needs to be artificially created for you and then forced upon the public by law. You don't have to fire the attendants... just give me the option to fill my own tank.
