One shouldn't tip the petrol attendants. We pay more for petrol to accommodate their salaries already. Self service is easy and even in Europe some stations have staff who pour your petrol, depends if the owner wants his pumps valued more or not

. Also prices in all SA petrol stations are the same. In Europe, each station has a different price and they offer loyalty points too, so you can save a bit by buying cheaper petrol. In SA it's pretty much the "additional services" which differentiate the petrol stations. If the guy gets to check oil, he also get so sell oil. If he gets to check water, he can also get increased likelihood of checking oil. Tire pressure I check myself. I don't ask them to wash my windscreen. There is no alcohol in the petrol stations, so one can't even buy that.
So all in all, no tipping. We don't tip people in Checkers or PnP. We don't tip people on Takealot.
