They are ok but should only be used sparingly. If something is urgent then call otherwise just type an message..

But because of them I can still hear my dads voice. He passed away last year. Hated typing messages so he send voicenotes rather.

Yeah, voice notes from some of the older folk is fine, especially if they have issues with their vision etc.

Not for daily chit-chat. But will use it if I'm trying to convey something that's gonna be too tedious to type.

Other than the above, and when you are driving, this is probably the only other acceptable voice note.

Receiving chit-chat voice notes irritate the living daylights out of me and they are mostly ignored till I have time to sit down and listen to them. The peeps simply do not 'get' it that I can easily read a message while I am super busy with other stuff, but have to stop Everything else to listen to a voice note.

So if I am busy with the books or studying, with e.g. a lecture playing in the background, I can one-line respond to colleagues' textual whatsapp messages without a problem, but have to stop everything to listen to a voice note, so I opt to ignore those till like the end of the day or even later.

As much as I detest them yes.

Also I have it set to 1.5x speed cause I'll crack if I have to listen to a 30sec clip for a yes/no answer

I hate/love the VN feature, but then my dad usually is on the road, and sending a voicenote is more convenient thn calling and you can listen to it at a later time...
He does this all the time. Sometimes i do use VN, but only for him, instead of typing it out, he can listen and drive, not read and drive. Not all of us have the time nor the place to handle our WhatsApp business properly by typing messages.

I detest WhatsApp calls ALL the time. Because if you answer, then the call randomly drops, or just does not connect.

I hate em. Problem is that it is more convenient for the person sending it than the person receiving it.

Somehow people seem to believe that they need to talk / should talk / can talk much longer when sending a voice note.

At least Whatsapp allowed me to listen to it at 2x speed.

Not a matter of love or hate. Efficiency is all that counts. Type when on computer. Driving and while on site it's much easier to send short concise voice notes that will take minutes to type on phone. And yes, I type slowly on a phone.

NO i use imessage voice notes. whatsapp is for plebs. Also i thought everyone left whatsapp for telegram, what happened to that?

Other. Use whatsapp instead of Skype for overseas family calls, no other usage / interest.

It is extremely annoying receiving a VN when in a meeting. 5 Min after receiving the VN you get a text, did you listen to my VN

I hate them because they auto send once completed. I have Aspergers so can sometimes start talking very confusing and would then like to start over, but alas before I can delete the message it is listened to OR if you do delete it there is a 10 minute discussion on why the message was deleted.
I usually also mute my Chrome browser to avoid all the notification sounds when mails/WhatsApps are received and only when I am half way through the voice note do I realise nothing is happening and I need to unmute the browser.

Dislike them. Avoid them.

And like other said.. when they start spreading the latest fake news kak.. then I just delete it.

My issue is listening to voice notes - often i am in a public place or work or with other people, and how are you supposed to listen to this then? Ridiculous to have to hold your phone up to your earView attachment 1226760
If I hold my phone to my ear like a normal person then it plays through my ear speaker

They have their place, but I text where possible.

To me voice notes are an alternative to a phone call, not a text message.
I'd rather you send me a voice note than call me.

If you send me a voice note it's asynchronous, don't expect an immediate response.
