Does MTN love its customers?

I guess MTN must get cash somewhere to pay their CEO's R13m bonus.

SO GLAD I LEFT MTN.

Excuse my ignorance, but what on earth is a "brain age" scheme?

If iam correct its stated that the compitition is not a "lottery" but you have to use your brain to win because thay ask you questions via sms. Mebbe thats where the brain age comes from. The same as the stuff on ETV ect.

Everyday my hatred of telekom providers just keep growing. One of these days iam gonna loose it and somebody gonna get hurt big time.

I believe "brain age" the term is most probably derived from the popular Nintendo DS game (same name) which is basically like one big IQ test where you do math puzzles/ language puzzles etc. It was a pretty huge hit (and i'm sure contributed alot to why Nintendo has beaten Sony so far on the portable console market) and that's why you see all these trivia/IQ/Soduko type of games appearing all over. So i assume it's a reference to that.

What do you expect from company that prides it self in their AA/BEE achievements..
What we are seeing is simply a first waive of its bull****ter's, incompetence and corruption breeds more corruption and incomepetence..

Welcome to BEE/AA world..

Oh and for all those "brainiacs" that have got burned on the SMS schema once burned twice shy... hopefully you will think twice when you take part in media frenzy bush1t

Well, if I had an annoying fly that just keeps coming back and I had a sledgehammer available I would whack it.

But only if it was sitting on something I don't mind losing :D

In MTNs case they don't want to whack that fly and loose the income that fly generates.

An apt metaphor on MTNs part. They CAN do something, but they CHOOSE not to. Shows you who is more important.

+1
I have been MTN free for a few years now and am loving it. I'll grant Cell C this - I don't hear from them and they bill be per my usage... their cell-phone reception and 2.5G suck at times, but fortunately I'm not reliant on it.

With MTN I paid through my butt and remained another dumb customer who they didn't really care about.

Brain age is released in SA under the name "Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training: How Old Is Your Brain?"

I had a hilarious experience playing this game just the other day:
It uses voice recognition for your answers - to do a simple test, it gives you a series of simple questions and you speak the answer... e.g. you play rock, paper scissors.... it asks you to win or lose then gives you an image of rock, paper scissors, and you speak out the relevant answer - if it has scissors and it asks you to win, you say 'Rock'...

Well I was doing OK when I got a 'Rock' answer and it kept asking me to try again... I kept repeating 'Rock, ROCK, ROCK!'... nothing... so as fate would have it, I felt some wind coming on so just for laughs I placed the DS within 'earshot' of my rear and let rip...

....'CORRECT' came the answer.

I was rolling on the ground crying with laughter for the next five minutes...

no, but they do love their customers money.

Agreed! Nobody has yet been able to convince me otherwise that this is not a clandestine scheme to profiteer from their "loyal" clients.

It seems MTN and iBurst have adopted the same selfish tactics lately. Customers don't have the same brand loyalty anymore they way they used to. If they smell a rat they will leave. I can't wait to get off my iBurst contract and MTN contract. Not just because of this incident, but because I know other providers have better offerings. MTN's coverage in my very central suburb is bad and I can never get international roaming because MTN has limited partnerships with overseas providers.

Who can forget iBursts ignorance to the SEACOM benefits. If they can't give me SEACOM benefits, I will go elsewhere.
I think MTN are partnering with the wrong people.

i love their attempt at defending themselves. sometimes i think they actually believe their own lives.

So you went to Vodacom, yet their BMW competition cost more to enter and was illegal.

The Vodafone CEO made more money than that, just to vacate his chair!

They are all the same.

I blame WASPA for being wimps and not deterring this behaviour.

I wouldn't be surprised if Waspa is made up of MTN and Vodacom shareholders and or their families...

I see the level of (bad) journalism on mybroadband has just dropped a notch once again. iTouch is in no way affiliated with MTN even though they have access to the EBB platform. Making such a statement is reckless as it implies that all WASPS are MTN affiliates.

If iTouch's client did not send out the confirmation MT as required by MTN for all subscription services (MTN not WASPA!!!!), then this is an issue that MTN can take up on. If the confirmation message was sent, then it becomes a WASPA issue.

The issue with the "Brain Age" service is its subscription method - I'm not prepared to divulge anything more than that as I'm in the industry and will not share knowledge that is not publicly available.
