Domaincheap, WebAfrica move, and "hosting"

Hi Guys,

If you require a service to be canceled, please DM your account details and our cancellations team will gladly call you back.

Sorry for the delay in response, our site was down temporarily.

I had a couple of domains with domain cheap and now sitting with a monthly bill of about R600 . After I was inform by them that no charges will apply to my current domains.

I hope that Web Africa will reply to my ticket at some stage. Created it early this morning and haven't had a reply.

How about you guys fix your system and allow people to cancel online... its not difficult. We don't need to speak to someone, if anything your insistence on this front is highly annoying and not doing you guys any favours.

I asked the WA rep to have a look at this thread...

I PM'd WA Helper my account name and invoice number. Within an hour I received the email of the cancellation notice. Thank you, WAH.

Will he doing so... I just find the while normal cancellation process just unnecessarily tedious if it forces a person to phone them.

I wonder if they expected this? In other words, if they paid Domaincheap for the expected revenue from converting all the free hosted accounts into paying accounts. My guess is that a number of people are either using Google Apps like me, or bought domains they thought were cool without actually wanting to run a site.

Domain renewal at WebAfrica is R99, I paid R70 with DomainCheap, in the process of moving all my domains over to Domains.co.za. Will be saving more than R1500 pa with my 50 odd domains.

You can save even more by moving to Frikkadel.co.za instead. They're the cheapest of the lot.

Thin kmaybe we're talking passed each other... :)..

For this I know there are no calls involved.... normally though, you have to call them to cancel a product it seems, which is, in all honesty, absolutely retarded.

Hi Everyone,

Firstly, we know that this move over to us has been a bit stressful and we're really sorry for any confusion around this issue. But its our mission to get everyone smiling and confident with the move over to Webafrica :)

To cut a long story short we took over Domain Cheap from the 1 October 2015 but only started the migration of the services from 16 November 2015. We've sent the entire Domain Cheap customer base various emails during the course of the move explaining what to expect but looking at a few of the posts here, it seems like some customers have not gotten an email from us. If you have not received any communications around this drop me a PM and I will investigate why.

Now for the major issue everyone here is having: Free hosting moving to R39p/m. This was communicated in our latest emails sent out to all affected customers and if you no longer want this package we will cancel it immediately, remove the invoice and move you onto the free domain parking package. All you need to do is drop me a PM and I will take care of it asap :)

I have received a few PM's already and will get onto them now.

Wow Web Africa really screwed this up. Plus I already have an account with Web Africa and now another one was created with a different email address.

Even worse. My domains that I moved away from Domaincheap just before the merge are now showing as active domains at Web Africa.

Bloody hell.

I hope that Web Africa will reply to my ticket at some stage. Created it early this morning and haven't had a reply.

Hi Solitude,

Sorry about that :( We could have had an email address with Domain Cheap that was different to the one with us but we can get that sorted quickly :) if our support team has not assisted yet drop me a PM with your email address and I will jump onto it.

Being invoiced too, webafrica have lost me as a customer.

Never great seeing that we've lost you. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to assist and you need your domains moved to a DNS parking package just drop me a PM.

This is just piss poor from Web Africa from start to finish in my opinion..

So glad I'll be able to cancel ghe whole account soon enough with Web Africa.

We really hope we don't lose you as a customer :( Has our team assisted in getting this sorted for you? If not drop me a PM I will assist as much as possible.

The cancellation was sorted out.
It would have been more professional the domain cheap stuff was parked or disabled if not opted in.

I'll still remain a webafrica ISP client for now.
