To answer your question we only fill SASOL, when BP decides to change business ventures into only renewable energy instead of oil then only will we start supporting them.

You will never be able to pull off a total, or even meaningful, boycott of an energy giant. We all need petrol and they know that.

I have learnt to plan unlike you, when i know my tank is half way i start looking out for a sasol garage, and i top up, that way i dont need to ever fill at BP, if i am hungry i will go to a mall or drive through, or thank goodness my wife loves making a good home cooked meal, so i always get a good filling of food, instead of buying the overpriced junkfood from BP shops.

I alone will never be able to pull it off, but everyone that does can help make the difference:

Once upon a time, there was a wise man who used to go to the ocean to do his writing. He had a habit of walking on the beach before he began his work.

One day, as he was walking along the shore, he looked down the beach and saw a human figure moving like a dancer. He smiled to himself at the thought of someone who would dance to the day, and so, he walked faster to catch up.

As he got closer, he noticed that the figure was that of a young man, and that what he was doing was not dancing at all. The young man was reaching down to the shore, picking up small objects, and throwing them into the ocean.

At this, the young man bent down, picked up yet another starfish, and threw it into the ocean. As it met the water, he said, "It made a difference for that one."
 
What happened is not funny, but your request is!

When I had a diesel car, in Cape Town, the best diesel was 50ppm from BP so you can be happy I don't still have a diesel :)

Because I have a petrol car I use Shell. You happy now? :)
 
You can boycott BP all you like but then you'd have to go without a car because all petrol is refined in the Western Cape for several "Brands" by one refinery

Oh please save your stories. Boycott BP because of an accident? As if it's not going to cost them enough to try and contain the damage? You think they did this on purpose? Just for your information, Sasol is also out to make money. Locally produced oil going to the same price as imported? They have to love the government for regulating fuel prices :rolleyes: And I certainly won't plan my trips around avoiding a BP. ;)
 
Its like the e-mails that get sent each week...don't buy this...don't eat that...don't use this...they support this war...they support child labour...they are satanists...its no longer kosher/halaal...boycott this store...
 
Sure I see the point of supporting BP because without there OIL the corporate sleaze bags wouldn't have JIFFYs to be able to the DOGGY under the boardroom table ...

It's Chevron not Caltex that supplies the Western Cape and all the BP service stations.

In SA there are five large refineries – CHevron (in Cape Town), Engen (in Durban), NATREF in Sasolburg, and the Shell and BP combined SAPREF refinery (also in Durban).

True. Same goes for inland stations, which get most of their basic petrol from SASOL, if I'm not mistaken?

What's the difference? all oil companies have had some similar disasters maybe not on the scale seen now, Gulf drilling was supported by the republicans and Sarah Palin was one of those "Drill baby Drill!" cheerleaders when there was a strong environmental opposition. The contractors working for BP and responsible for maintenance or whatever they hired for work for other oil companies too.

Just oppose oil period it is unsustainable and will continue to be a hazard.

It's been through a couple of name changes.Technicality. Caltex is actually Chevron which now owns the Caltex brand and others.

Chevron also markets its petrol through these brands Standard Oil
Texaco
Caltex
Gulf
Unocal

Boycott BP and another one will raise in it's place. Nothing will come of this. Now if everyone boycotted the petrol industry as a whole - that's a different story.

Where are those hydrogen cars when you need them?

If it wasn't BP it would have just been another one of the oil companies. They are all in it for the money. You might as well boycott all of them or none of them. As someone said... the cost of this clean-up is going to make a massive dent in BP... if not wipe them out as a company for good. So ja... no need really to boycott them... they are just another greedy oil company... no better and no worse than the rest. This could have been Shell or Exxon or any other company and our response would be the same.

Buy yourself a horse. Throw away your motor car.
 
The recent devastating oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico could have been avoided if one former Federal EPA agent had been allowed to do his job. Scott West, who now works for the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, retired early from the EPA after the Federal government pulled the plug on his investigation into negligence by British Petroleum (BP) in Alaska in 2006. West was well on the road to sending some BP executives to jail when his investigation was quashed before it was complete, and BP paid a $20 million dollar fine and pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor offense. If West had been allowed to complete his investigation, some BP executives would have been more motivated to have taken more precautions to ensure that incidents like that which happened on Earth Day in the Gulf would not have happened.

Justice interrupted has now borne the consequences of the Federal government’s compromise with those now responsible for the most devastating oil spill in history.
