Dragon Age Veil Guard

I'm almost done with my playthrough, having a great time honestly. I can totally see why so many people compare it to Mass Effect 2, it took a lot of inspiration with the companions and the final mission design. I've enjoyed all the companions so far, they're not top-tier but I like that you get a lot of time to spend with all of them. Been running with the two elves in my squad mainly, Davrin and Assan are goat and Bellara is a good healer character.

A much better game than Mass Effect Andromeda, so it does give me some confidence than the new Mass Effect will at least be better than the last one 😅

Andromeda's game mechanics and combat were honestly top tier.

It fell apart in the storytelling, character models and the lack of more species (and therefore lore) given that it takes place in a new galaxy.

But yeah given that many of the old creators from the original trilogy are returning along with the positives from Veilguard, I'm hopeful for the new game...

Made Steam's gold tier for new releases per revenue for the year.
Gold tier is top 24.
Made bronze tier for top sellers, top sellers include all games not just new releases . That is top 100 for year.
Bronze tier for overall played. Calculated by peak player count. Bronze 50k - 100k.

Revenue is calculated from 1 Jan 2024 - 15 December 2024.

Hardly the failure that some would want people to believe.

A couple of things:
  • The game has zero Steam award nominations.
  • Steam revenue <> studio revenue.
  • The game is already 35% off on Steam, 2 months in.
  • Revenue figures are useless without knowing costs as well
  • There's a difference between commercial and critical success.
Set that bar lower why don't you.

I find most people criticizing the game have not even played it and just parroting someone else's opinion. Not unique to this game though, happens with a lot of things these days.
I'm still going to play it when it comes to Game Pass. I enjoy the jokes and memes though.

Corinne Busche, who served as game director of Dragon Age: The Veilguard since February 2022, is departing BioWare.

Whispers of her exit began circulating online last night, and were first confirmed by journalist Jeff Grubb. Eurogamer can also confirm Busche is leaving BioWare.

Eurogamer understands BioWare itself is otherwise unaffected by any other changes, contrary to rumour.

Looking at:

* Dev time up to release
* Cost of development
* General feeling around sales figures, especially in places like UK (Dragon Age: The Veilguard (No.67) for 2024 in EU)

I don't think this game quite hit the figures they were hoping for. Will be interesting to see if they officially say something about it at some point

There is currently a rumor that that division is closing end Feb, if true then I would say, No! it did not meet sales expectations.

I say rumor cause its via Mark Kern and we all know how bias he is.

We will get the sales figures when EA releases their financials.

Funny how the same people who were championing kingdom deliverance are now having a mental meltdown over it because 2 includes a guy scene...

Debunked

Confirmed no unskippable cutscenes, also confirmed the only way you will see a gay sex scene is if you play Henry as a gay character.
All up to the player

It's crazy, because these anti woke nutjobs decided Saudi Arabia was a credible source

Woke games are in a decline, so they have nothing to do. They are basically on a witch hunt to find stuff to complain about to stay relevent

Corinne Busche is about as much a "her" as a big, bouncing pair of hairy pigs' testicles caked in lipstick.

Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Wonder which idiot company is fool enough to employ this headcase next.

Anyway, big bomba confirmed:

EA pinned most of the blame on its soccer title, EA Sports FC 2025, which was released in September to mixed reviews. The company introduced a refresh this month.

The roleplaying game Dragon Age: The Veilguard, which came out in October following a turbulent development cycle, reached 1.5 million players during the quarter, missing the company's expectations by around 50%.
