Hi,

My learners expired, I want to make an appointment for the test. Is there a place in South Africa, where I can get a quick appointment? Say 1-3 weeks waiting period? Gauteng sucks:eek:, there are no dates available, I'm not even going to comment about Brits, if dates are available, you find Gautans camping outside the Testing Centre...

I'm willing to go anywhere... How about Namibia, can I do the test even if I'm not a resident? Botswana requires a permit, Zimbabwe not an option, I don't know about Lesotho or Swaziland. Our government is pathetic, I think they should privatize the Driving License thingy...

Kind Regards,

Try some of the small towns here in the free state. Usually you wait 1 week from booking.

Northern Province. Sibasa. Route: Pietersburg, Louis Trichardt, Levubu, Sibasa. I stay there and there are very short waiting lists.

Try places like viljoenskroon, a friend waited one day for his learners there! Not sure of exact distance but its near klerksdorp if that helps.

It's about 450KM from Pretoria.. So you do the further maths. I'm not sure about accommodation, but it shouldn't be too much.

Kenya is dead easy - you get a little red card... only prob is you have to have it stamped every few years - costs nothing - but it has to go physically to their office to be stamped. I have taken a colleagues for him - no questions asked, in fact, I gave it to the taxi driver to take to get stamped (lol)... it's valid in all SADC / east african countries afaik.

Thank you... But I have to ask, When did you test for learners? I did mine in Brits, took one day, that was 2006, now its a different story..

Waiting period in Machadodorp is about 1 week, you can call them aswell to make double sure. Is a bit far though, 280km.

What about Secunda (doubt it though) or Bronkhorstspruit?

The red card that you get? What are the requirements, do I have to do a theoretical + practical test, and how long will it take? How much did you pay? Can you convert it into a South African license...

I'm desperate, will do anything to get a license..:o
