Hi all,

Since last night at around 9PM, my DSL line keeps disconnecting every 5 minutes or so. I was wondering if rain could have an influence as it's been raining constantly for the last 2 days, altough I've never had an issue with my line when it comes to rain. What are your thoughts? I've had Telkom recreate my port but the problem is still persisting.

Your input is appreciated.

EDIT: My pings are also through the roof. Averaging between 500 - 1000ms to Google.com.

I have seen afew open boxes, hence the issues.

Yesterday was quite heavy

My line would go down if it was raining in Jhb and I live in Pretoria.
Even a bit of thunder and it would go down.
My line was always bad and I could never get more than 3.3 Mbps.
Got Fidre now and seems ok but every 5min I get game timed out on Steam.
Hopefully you'll be able to get fibre and your hassles will be over.

Thanks for the input. It was definitely the rain. After everything dried up the line seems stable again.

Log a fault with telkom - they need to fix/replace the exposed cables

Yep, I struggled with this for a couple of months, After eight calls logged to Telkom, they eventually found damage to the cable in the neighbors yard. Replaced that and all was fine. Now syncing at 12.7mb on interleaved.
