Hey guys,

Just want to find out if anyone else has noticed their increase in speeds after the weekend?

In our office we currently have 2 x 4mb dsl lines, one on Mweb and one on IS... i did a random speedtest this morning and find that im getting 7.8Mbps download and 1.2Mbps upload on our 4Mbps line? am i just one of the lucky ones getting this "extra" bandwidth?

:D:D:D:D:D

They said they(Telkom) will begin upgrades from August but I know someone working at Telkom that says they are already beginning to upgrade some of the lines here in Cape Town and other parts of SA, he would not say where they are planning to do upgrades next in Cape Town so I'll just have to wait it out, August is just around the corner, fed-up with my slow 384kbps line I want 1Mbps!!!!!

Thanks MickeyD, wasnt expecting any upgrading to happen for another week or two... but very happy with the speeds, getting a 4ms ping times to our server in the IS datacenter...

i'm in douglasdale..
1mb is still 1mb..
:-(

Here in Lonehill ,same exchange, not even on adsl2+ .... Still a sad G.DMT

Must be on one of the older DSLAMs? I've been running ADSL2+ for quite a while ...

SNR Margin (dB): 7.0 6.0
Attenuation (dB): 58.0 35.0

Attainable Rate (Kbps): 4288 732
Rate (Kbps): 3343 728

Idk but it irritates me, telkom had us on one but then we got changed to make our line better... Just screwed it up more, and the scary thing is my neighbour 4 houses up gets a wonderful 5 mb?

My stats about 2 weeks old, at the moment it is at 3329 and with 61 rh attenuation

Have you made absolutely sure all you in-door wiring, right up to where it leaves your property, is in perfect shape?

When I first got ADSL, I ripped out all of the old telephone wiring and relaid new (probably shortened local lead by 30m).

Yep, we have done everything, but apparently the one technician said that it's the cable under the road to the cabinet, Telkom didn't pitch to dig it up, never have and never will.... Their to lazy zzzZZZzZz

surely you won't know if your line gets upgraded if you are still running and MWEB uncapped package? because your router will still sync at the speed that is determined by your package? EG running 1mbps the router syncs at 1024/512, and when the upgrades come, surely it should still sync at 1024/512 if our MWEB package is still 1mb uncapped?

I will investigate tomorrow, I see there is one old wire but it's about 2 meters, although our pole is broken in the middle leaning against a tree, about 2 months ago quite a hectic storm cracked it in the middle, the trees branches are growing over it and stuff

But I will definitely go rage tomorrow and rip all the cable out and do them my self

Package is 4mb and the sync profile is set to that, sorry I have to go, will chat in the morning

Yep sound like something is damaged there. You must be at least 1000m closer to the exchange than me (as the cables run) yet your attenuation is worse than mine.

It's at my offices which is in the gantry center by the Papachinos... I didn't see any telkom guys on the corner today so I think they done with their upgrades! :)

Had a few users in the office saying they downloaded some files at 1,7mb/ps.. And we still on MWEB 4mb uncapped..
